  • School-Record 129 Tornados Named Academic All-Conference

    A school-record 129 Brevard College student-athletes have been named 2020-21 USA South Academic All-Conference selections. Thirty one of the 128 BC student-athletes also earned “With Distinction” honors for superior academic achievement.

    A total of 41 student-athletes, representing 13 different sports graduated as part of the Class of 2021 at Brevard College’s 168th Commencement Ceremony held at Ives-Lemel Family Field on Saturday, May 8.
  • Volleyball Sets Schedule for Upcoming Fall 2021 Season

    The Brevard College volleyball team has announced its slate of opponents for the upcoming 2021 Fall season of competition, following its Spring 2021 campaign. The Tornados will be back in action on September 2, with its regular-season schedule running through October 30 ahead of the USA South Conference Volleyball Tournament, beginning November 2 and concluding Nov. 5-6.
  • Tornados Sweep Doubleheader over Wolves in Regular Season Finale

    The Brevard College volleyball team (4-6, 3-4 USAS) swept a doubleheader at Wesleyan (1-12, 1-7 USAS) on Saturday in Macon, Georgia to cap off BC’s Spring 2021 regular season. The Tornados defeated the Wolves in straight sets in the first match of the day that counted toward the USA South Conference standings. BC then won the second match 3-1 in a contest that was considered a non-conference competition.
  • Tornados Honor Senior Class; Parkins and Pressley Collect Double-Doubles in Loss

    The Brevard College volleyball team (2-6, 2-4 USAS) honored its two seniors, Madison Hogan and Raley Shirey, on Thursday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Brevard fell, 3-0, to visiting Berea College, as the Mountaineers took sets one and two - 25-14 and 25-16 – before a tight third set went the way of Berea, 25-22. Freshman duo Makenna Parkins and Kaitlyn Pressley each recorded double-doubles in the defeat. Parkins led all Tornados with 11 kills to go alongside a team-high 14 digs defensively. Pressley dished out 21 of Brevard’s 23 assists while adding 11 digs on the defensive end.
  • Volleyball's Match at Covenant Postponed

    In accordance with USA South Conference COVID-19 management protocols, the BC volleyball contest at Covenant College, originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 7, has been postponed.
  • BC Volleyball Reschedules Contest vs. Berea; Set for Thursday, April 8 at 5 p.m.

    The Brevard College volleyball team has announced an update to its previously postponed home-finale vs. Berea College.  The Tornados and Mountaineers are now scheduled to face off at the Boshamer Gymnasium on Thursday, April 8, with first serve scheduled for 5 p.m. The matchup will mark Brevard's Senior Night contest. 
  • Tornados and Wolves Shift Volleyball Matches to Saturday, April 10 at 3 and 5 p.m.

    The Brevard College volleyball team has released an update to its previously postponed road doubleheader at Wesleyan College The Tornados and Wolves will now face off on Saturday, April 10 in a weekend doubleheader in Macon, Georgia. Brevard and Wesleyan will face off in a USA South Conference match at 3 p.m., followed by a non-conference contest scheduled for 5 p.m.
  • Volleyball's Upcoming Matches with Wesleyan and Berea Postponed

    In accordance with USA South Conference COVID-19 management protocols, Brevard College's upcoming volleyball matches against Wesleyan College scheduled for Saturday, March 27 in Macon, Georgia, and vs. Berea College scheduled for Tuesday, March 30 at the Boshamer Gymnasium have been postponed. The institutions will now explore if the contests will be able to be played at a later date.
  • Preseason Favorite Scots Sweep Tornados in Maryville

    The Brevard College volleyball team (2-5, 2-3 USAS) fell 3-0 in a USA South Conference road match to West Division preseason favorite Maryville College (9-1, 6-0 USAS) on Tuesday evening in Maryville, Tennessee. Freshman outside hitter/middle blocker Makenna Parkins led all Tornado attackers with a seven kill output, while fellow freshman setter/right-side hitter Kaitlyn Pressley had five kills on her ledger in addition to a team-high seven assists and four digs. Morgan Graham and Caitlin Hagarty led the defense with nine digs apiece, while Grace Pukas and Graham each dished five assists out. Senior Raley Shirey led all Tornados with a pair of service aces.
  • Brevard Matches Up With Maryville on Tuesday in Tennessee

    The Brevard College volleyball team (2-4, 2-2 USAS) continues its conference schedule on Tuesday evening when the Tornados head off to Maryville, Tennessee to play Maryville College (8-1, 5-0 USAS), with first serve scheduled for 5 p.m.  Live video and statistics of this USA South Conference contest will be available, free-of-charge, courtesy of Maryville College. 
  • Tornados Battle Back in Four-Setter vs. Panthers, Fall 3-1

    The Brevard College volleyball team (2-4, 2-1 USAS) fought back from a 2-0 deficit, winning the third set in exciting fashion before eventually falling, 3-1, to LaGrange College (5-1, 4-0 USAS) in a Sunday afternoon conference match at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Freshman outside hitter Makenna Parkins registered a new career-high, driving home a game-best 14 kills and a .321 attack percentage to pace BC’s offensive attack. Senior middle hitter Raley Shirey added 10 kills to the Tornado ledger, while freshman setter/right-side hitter Kaitlyn Pressley added nine kills. Pressley, a first-year student-athlete from Brevard High School, recorded a rare kills/assists/digs triple-double in BC’s last conference matchup. The versatile freshman logged 18 assists and eight digs, nearing yet another triple-double performance in Sunday’s contest. Sophomore setter Grace Pukas also flirted with a triple-double in the contest, tallying a team-best 19 assists alongside seven kills and seven assists. Freshman defensive specialist Caitlin Hagarty led all Tornado defenders with 11 digs.
  • Pressley’s Triple-Double Carries Tornados to Conference Win at The Bosh

    Freshman setter/right-side hitter Kaitlyn Pressley recorded the first triple-double of her collegiate career to help lead the Brevard College volleyball team (2-3, 2-1 USAS) to a 3-1 victory over Piedmont College (3-3, 1-2 USAS) in a USA South Conference match at the Boshamer Gymnasium as part of a doubleheader between the two sides. BC claimed the front-end of the doubleheader, storming back after falling in the first set to win sets two-four by final scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-21. The two sides then played in a non-conference contest, with the Lions earning a 3-0 sweep in consecutive sets. Pressley, a local product from Brevard and graduate of Brevard High School, accomplished an impressive triple-double performance for the Tornados in the conference contest. The newcomer led all players with a career-high 16 kills to go alongside new career-best marks with 17 assists and 10 digs to round off the milestone effort. Senior outside hitter Raley Shirey set a new career-high with 14 kills, while Grace Pukas led all Tornados with a 20-assist output in addition to a game-high six service aces. Freshman defensive specialist set a career-mark with 20 digs to anchor BC’s defense.
  • Volleyball Hosts Lions in Doubleheader at The Bosh Wednesday

    On the heels of its first road trip of the Spring 2021 season, the Brevard College volleyball team (1-2, 1-1 USAS) returns to the confines of the Boshamer Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, welcoming Piedmont College (2-2, 1-1 USAS) to town for a 5 p.m. serve time in a conference matchup. The two sides will then face off in non-conference action shortly following the end of the first match at approximately 7:30 p.m. Live video of both matches will be available, free-of-charge, on youtube.com/BrevardCollegeTornados, with live statistics of both contests at bctornados.com.
  • Volleyball Travels to Montgomery to Continue Conference Play

    The Brevard College Volleyball team (1-0, 1-0 USAS) will make its first road trip of its Spring 2021 season, as the Tornados head down to Montgomery, Alabama for a doubleheader against Huntingdon College (0-2, 0-2 USAS) on Saturday.  The Tornados and Hawks meet in a conference match at 1 p.m., with a five-set non-conference match set shortly following the conclusion of the first contest. 
  • Tornados Sweep Scotties at The Bosh in Season Debut

    Senior middle-hitter Raley Shirey drove home a career-high 11 kills to help lead the Brevard College volleyball team (1-0, 1-0 USAS) to a season-opening victory, 3-0, over Agnes Scott College (0-1, 0-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Shirley, a senior from Forsyth County, Georgia, tallied 11 kills on 19 total attacks for a .526 kill percentage that led the Tornado offensive effort. Freshman Makenna Parkins added six kills in her Tornado volleyball debut, while Sarah Hutchens recorded five kills. Kaitlyn Pressley, a local from Brevard and a graduate of Brevard High School, dished out 15 assists while also adding nine digs and three kills in an all-around performance for her Tornado debut. Returning sophomore Grace Pukas added eight assists, while freshman Caitlin Hagarty posted a game-high 15 digs in her first collegiate contest.
  • Volleyball Opens Spring at The Bosh on Saturday

    The Brevard College volleyball team opens its Spring 2021 season up at home on Saturday, as the Tornados begin conference play against Agnes Scott College at the Boshamer Gymnasium in BC’s season and home-opener.  Live video will be available on youtube.com/BrevardCollegeTornados, with live statistics available on bctornados.com.  In an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators will not be permitted to attend Brevard College volleyball home games this season at the Boshamer Gymnasium on the BC campus.  Members of participating teams, game officials, media, and other essential personnel relevant to event operations will be the only individuals permitted into the venue for 2021 Brevard College volleyball games. The policy is in accordance with the USA South Conference's policy announced on January 7, 2021.
  • Tornados Tabbed Seventh in USA South West Division

    The USA South Conference volleyball coaches have released their annual preseason coaches poll, selecting the Brevard College volleyball team to finish in seventh place in the USA South West Division. Due to complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 volleyball seasons were postponed until the spring semester. Despite the delay to the start of the season, the USA South is prepared to offer regular season and championship experiences for its student-athletes despite the NCAA's cancelation of the national Division III tournament. An adjustment to this season's competition is that USA South volleyball teams will be competing in Conference-sponsored regular season and tournament action against teams within their division only. The Spring 2021 USA South Volleyball postseason will consist of an East Division and a West Division Tournament. The top-four seeded teams from each division will advance to the respective tournaments. The winners of those events will be crowned Divisional Conference Champions. There will be no overall USA South Champion this season.
  • Updated Outdoor Sports Spectator Policy Announced for USA South Conference and Brevard College

    The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent.
  • Brevard College Volleyball Spring Schedule Released

    The Brevard College Tornados Volleyball program has announced its schedule for the upcoming Spring season of competition. Brevard’s schedule features competition consisting entirely of USA South West Division foes, with eight matches out of 15 counting towards conference play. “I am very excited to see this team in action in the coming weeks,” said Head Coach Anna Grant. “We were able to take advantage of our time in the fall to focus on skill training, strength and conditioning and developing culture and I am looking forward to seeing that pay off in our games this spring. We are very thankful for the opportunity to compete this spring as most of the schools in our division decided to play doubleheaders to give our players more opportunities to play and win."

    The USA South Conference has announced plans to move forward with competition for Men’s and Women’s Basketball – alongside previously postponed fall sports of Football, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross Country - in the upcoming Spring semester. All dates, times, and opponents for each sport at Brevard College are still yet to be announced.   • Savannah Cox Named Assistant Volleyball Coach at Pacific University

    Pacific University head volleyball coach Kip Yoshimura has named Savannah Cox as the new assistant volleyball coach for the Boxers. As a student athlete, she had a standout career at NCAA Division II, Brevard College. With the Tornados, she was a middle blocker where she played in all 137 matches of her collegiate volleyball career. Cox holds Brevard College's all-time block assist record and matches played --- as well as a school record in track & field --- and was a four-year starter for the Tornados and earned SAC Honor Roll accolades every semester.
  • Brevard Volleyball Announces Schedule for 2020 Season

    The Brevard College volleyball program, under the direction of Head Coach Anna Grant, has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2020 season.  The schedule of opponents includes a total of 28 matches, 16 of which coming in USA South Conference play, and 11 contests inside of the Boshamer Gymnasium for the Tornados.  2020 marks the first season that the Tornados will compete as fully-eligible members of NCAA DIII, as BC will seek a bid into the 2020 USA South Conference Volleyball Postseason Tournament.
