In an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators will not be permitted to attend volleyball games this season.  Members of participating teams, game officials, media, and other essential personnel relevant to event operations will be the only individuals permitted into the venue for 2021 volleyball games. The policy is in accordance with the USA South Conference's policy announced on January 7, 2021.

The Tornados hit the court after opening up their Spring season in a 3-0 sweep against Agnes Scott College last Saturday at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Brevard took the first set in close fashion, 25-22, before cruising in the second and third sets to victory.

Senior middle-hitter Raley Shirey drove home a career-high 11 kills to help propel the Tornados to victory. Shirey, a senior from Forsyth County, Georgia, tallied 11 kills on 19 total attacks for a .526 kill percentage that led the Tornado offensive effort.

Freshman Makenna Parkins added six kills in her Tornado volleyball debut, while Sarah Hutchens recorded five kills.

Kaitlyn Pressley, a local from Brevard and a graduate of Brevard High School, dished out 15 assists while also adding nine digs and three kills in an all-around performance for her Tornado debut. Returning sophomore Grace Pukas added eight assists, while freshman Caitlin Hagarty posted a game-high 15 digs in her first collegiate contest.

The host Hawks are coming off narrow defeats in consecutive matches to conference foe Maryville College. The Scots took the conference match, 3-1, before claiming a five-set non-conference matchup against the Hawks, 3-2.

Following Brevard's doubleheader road trip, the Tornados are scheduled to return home to face Piedmont College on Wednesday, March 17 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in a doubleheader at the Boshamer Gymnasium
