  • Brevard College Athletics 2023 Hall of Fame Class Announced

    Brevard College has announced the selection of the three newest inductees into the Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame with the selections of Scott Dvorak ‘89 (Cross Country/Track & Field), Ray Gill ’05 (Baseball) and Joh Tuttle Tyson ‘10 (Cycling).
  • Carone Named Assistant Baseball Coach at Brevard College
    June 23, 2023
    Vinny Carone has been named the Assistant Coach for the Brevard College Tornados Baseball program, announced Head Coach Mike Victory.  “Coach Carone has a great mind for baseball and will be a fantastic addition to our program,” said Victory, who will be entering his fifth season as head coach of the Tornados.  “Our players will benefit greatly from his knowledge and passion. I know he is excited to get after it as we continue to push this program forward.”  Carone arrives at Brevard College from McDowell High School in Erie, Pennsylvania where he led that program to a divisional championship in 2022.  Carone will begin his duties as Assistant Coach of the Tornados on August 1.
  • Brevard College Places 154 Student-Athletes on USA South Academic All-Conference List

    Brevard College placed 154 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2022-23 academic year.
  • Thompson Selected to USA South All-Tournament Team after Stellar Outing

    Following a complete-game shutout that eliminated first-round host Methodist University in the opening round of the 2023 USA South Conference Baseball Tournament, sophomore right-handed pitcher Jacob Thompson was selected to the USA South All-Tournament Team.  Thompson, a second-year Tornado from Gray, Georgia, becomes the first BC baseball student-athlete to earn All-Tournament honors from the USA South. 
  • Oehler Becomes First Tornado to Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors

    Sophomore first baseman Cale Oehler became the first Brevard College baseball student-athlete in the NCAA D3 era to collect All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings, as the Charlotte, North Carolina native was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings Region 6 All-Region Third Team.  Oehler, a second-year Tornado, joins BC alumnus Huntley Hacker ‘21 and fellow teammate Logan Clark as Tornados to earn All-Region accolades from a national organization over the course of the D3 era. Hacker was an All-South Region Third Team selection in 2021 by D3baseball.com, while Clark secured Region Rookie of the Year honors that same season. 
  • Record Five BC Baseball Student-Athletes Named Academic All-District

    BREVARD, N.C. – A program-best five student-athletes from the Brevard College baseball team have been named 2022-23 Academic All-District performers, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Brevard College baseball student-athletes Trenten Anderson, Blake Burchett, Cameron Cook, Lucas Granata and Cesar Rodriguez were all named to the Academic All-District team for the 2022-23 season. All five Tornados now advance to the ballot for the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-America team.
  • Historic Season for Brevard Baseball Concludes with Heartbreaking 15-14 Defeat in USA South Tournament

    The Brevard College baseball team (22-21) saw its 2023 campaign conclude in heartbreaking fashion as the three-seeded William Peace Pacers (25-19) scored eight unanswered runs to walk the game off in the bottom of the ninth inning. 15-14, to advance to the USA South Conference Baseball Championship Series.  The defeat closes the book on one of the most successful seasons in the program’s 15-year NCAA history, as the Tornados finish with 20-plus (22) wins for the second-consecutive season and earned the first two playoff wins in program NCAA-era history. 
  • Baseball Eliminates Methodist Behind Thompson’s CG Shutout; Winner-Take-All Set Up vs. William Peace on Sunday

    Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jacob Thompson pitched the second complete-game shutout of his career as the six-seeded Brevard College baseball team eliminated two-seed Methodist University with a 4-0 victory in the first of two Saturday contests for the Tornados in the USA South Conference Baseball Tournament.  Brevard was one out away from advancing to the USA South Championship Series, however, coughed up the lead and fell 13-9 in 10 innings to William Peace University in the nightcap. The defeat sets up a winner-take-all scenario for the Tornados and Pacers on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Armstrong-Shelley Field.  The victory over Methodist marked BC’s second-consecutive playoff win, the first time the Tornados have accomplished that in the NCAA era. Friday’s 5-2 win over the Pacers in extra innings marked the first NCAA-era postseason victory for BC Baseball. 
  • Three-Run 11th Lifts Tornados Past Pacers; Brevard Wins First Playoff Game in NCAA-Era History

    The Brevard College baseball team (21-19) used a three-run rally in the top of the 11th inning and sealed the deal in the bottom half of the frame to take a 5-2 victory over William Peace University (22-19) in the opening round of the 2023 USA South Conference Baseball Tournament at Armstrong-Shelley Field on the campus of Methodist University. 
  • Brevard Falls Late in Regular Season Finale, 12-6; Tornados Lock in Six-Seed in USAS Tourney

    The Brevard College baseball team (20-19, 10-11 USAS) fell 12-6 in the regular season finale to Greensboro College (19-19, 13-8 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.  Brevard will now turn its attention to the 2023 USA South Conference Baseball Tournament, beginning with two three-team double-elimination first-round tournaments. BC locked up the sixth seed in the conference, sending the Tornados to Fayetteville, North Carolina beginning Friday, May 5. The postseason appearance marks BC's first since the 2015 SAC Tournament. 
  • Greensboro Shuts Down Brevard in Doubleheader Sweep

    The Brevard College baseball team (20-18, 10-10 USA South) could not get much going offensively in a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Greensboro College (18-19, 12-8 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.  The Pride blanked Brevard in game number one, 5-0, before scoring five unanswered runs including four in the final two innings to defeat the Tornados in the second contest, 5-1. 
  • Bruins Pull Away Late for Non-Conference Win vs. Tornados

    The Brevard College baseball team (20-16) fell 10-6 in a midweek non-conference contest on the road to Bob Jones University (4-25) on Tuesday night at Conestee Park in Greenville, South Carolina.
  • William Peace Slugs Past Brevard, 12-3, for Conference Series Sweep

    The Brevard College baseball team (20-15, 10-8 USA South) fell 12-3 to William Peace University (19-17, 11-7 USAS) on Monday afternoon at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. William Peace used a surge of offensive firepower in the victory, scoring 12 runs on 14 hits, including three home runs and five extra-base hits.
  • Pacers Sweep Tornados in Conference Doubleheader

    The Brevard College baseball team (20-14, 10-7 USA South) fell in both games of a USA South Conference doubleheader to William Peace University (18-17, 10-7 USAS) on Sunday afternoon in Cary, North Carolina at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
  • Two Big Innings Propel Tornados to 14-3 Win, Series Sweep

    The Brevard College baseball team (20-12, 10-5 USA South) used a five and eight-run inning to break open a 14-3 victory over Mary Baldwin University (4-26, 0-15 USAS) to sweep all three games of this weekend’s USA South Conference series on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.  Brevard scored 14 unanswered runs to take the win after the visiting Fighting Squirrels scored three runs through the first three innings. BC totaled five runs in the bottom of the third and then exploded for eight in the bottom of the eighth to clinch the win. 
  • Successful Senior Day Sweep for Brevard College Baseball

    The Brevard College baseball team (19-12, 9-5 USA South) got back to its winning ways as the Tornados took care of business, sweeping Mary Baldwin University (4-25, 0-14 USAS) in a pair of USA South Conference contests, 8-0 and 6-4, on Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. 
  • Tornados Unable to Break Through as No. 16 Monarchs Sweep Series

    The Brevard College baseball team (17-12, 7-5 USA South) fell in another tight contest to no. 16 Methodist University (23-5, 10-2 USAS), as the Monarchs shut out the Tornados 1-0 to sweep the USA South Conference series. 
  • Pair of Nail Biters Go No. 18 Methodist’s Way on Monday Night

    The Brevard College baseball team (17-11, 7-4 USA South) fell in a pair of close contests to nationally-ranked no. 18 Methodist University (23-5, 9-2 USAS) on Monday evening at Armstrong-Shelley Field In Fayetteville, North Carolina. After BC held on to a one-run lead through the first five innings in game one, Methodist took advantage of a defensive miscue in the bottom of the sixth and plate two runs to take a 2-1 lead. The Monarchs added an insurance score in the bottom of the eighth to seal the series-opening win, 3-1.
  • NC Wesleyan Rallies Late to Down Brevard in Rubber Match

    The Brevard College baseball team (17-9, 7-2 USA South) fell in the rubber match of a three-game USA South Conference series to NC Wesleyan University (19-6, 8-1 USAS) as the Battling Bishops rallied late to take an 11-9 victory on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.  The visitors used a three-run home run in the top of the eighth to retake the lead, 10-8, and then held off a late ninth-inning rally from the Tornados to earn the two-run win. 
  • Vasquez Walks Off in Game Two; Tornados Split Pair in First-Place Battle

    Frankie Vasquez roped a walk-off RBI single to left field as the Brevard College baseball team (17-8, 7-1 USA South) split a USA South Conference doubleheader at Gil Coan Field with NC Wesleyan University (18-6, 7-1 USAS) on a very windy Saturday afternoon.  Brevard pulled out a 12-11 victory in game number two to secure a doubleheader sweep with the Battling Bishops, as the two sides remain tied for first place in the USA South baseball standings through eight games on the conference slate. 
  • Vasquez, Crosby Earn Conference Weekly Honors

    Sophomore infielder Frankie Vasquez and freshman left-handed pitcher Connor Crosby earned Athlete of the Week honors from the USA South Conference following Brevard College’s three-game conference sweep over Pfeiffer University last week. Vasquez earned USA South Baseball Player of the Week honors, giving the Tornados consecutive player of the week awards for the first time this season, while Crosby was awarded Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time already this season.
  • Late Rally Falls Short for Tornados in High-Scoring Non-Conference Matchup

    The Brevard College baseball team (16-7) dropped a non-conference contest to Williams College (5-4), 14-12 as a ninth-inning Tornado rally fell just short on Monday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.
  • Tornados Pull Away Late for Series Sweep of Falcons
    March 26, 2023
    The Brevard College baseball team (16-6, 6-0 USA South) used a three-run eighth inning to pull away from Pfeiffer University (3-12, 0-6 USAS), defeating the Falcons 7-5 to sweep the first home USA South Conference of the season for the Tornados on a cloudy Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.  Leading by one run for a majority of the middle innings, 4-3, Brevard scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth and then held off a late ninth-inning Falcon rally to secure the series sweep. Brevard’s 6-0 start in conference play is the best in the program’s NCAA-era history. 
  • Baseball Takes Two to Open Series vs. Pfeiffer

    On a sunny Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field, the Brevard College baseball team (15-6, 5-0 USA South) defeated Pfeiffer University (3-11, 0-5 USAS) in a pair of USA South Conference contests by final scores of 8-2 and 1-0 in BC’s first home conference games of the season. BC pulled away late in game number one and used stellar pitching performances in the second game to take both games of the afternoon twin-bill.
  • Burchett Earns Player of the Week Award Following Historic Weekend

    Senior infielder Blake Burchett was honored by the USA South Conference after a historic offensive weekend for the Brevard College Baseball team, as Burchett was named USA South Baseball Player of the Week.
  • Historic Offensive Day Sends Brevard to Series Sweep of Southern Virginia
    March 18, 2023
    The Brevard College Baseball team (13-6, 3-0 USA South) swept its conference-opening series against Southern Virginia University (7-9, 0-3 USAS) on Saturday in Buena Vista, Virginia.  The Tornados and Knights battled in a slugfest in the second game of the three-game series, with BC ultimately coming out on top 19-16 in a game that featured 35 combined runs and 19 combined scores in the final four innings of play. Brevard then came out with a ferocious offensive performance in the series finale, scoring 15 runs in the first two innings in a 23-6 record-breaking rout of the Knights in a contest that was called after five innings of play. BC set the program single-game run record with 23 runs scored in only five innings of game action. 
  • Late Runs Push Brevard Past Southern Virginia in Conference Opener

    The Brevard College baseball team (11-6, 1-0 USA South) defeated Southern Virginia University (7-6, 0-1 USAS) 8-5 on Friday morning in Buena Vista, Virginia, opening up the 2023 USA South Conference slate with a win.
  • Red Dragons Use Seventh-Inning Surge to Drop Tornados
    March 15, 2023
    The Brevard College baseball team (10-6) fell 23-3 to (RV) SUNY-Cortland (7-7) in a Wednesday afternoon matinee at Gil Coan Field. The visiting Red Dragons scored 22 unanswered runs over the course of the last four innings to flip the script and take a 20-run victory. BC’s Luke Morton and Cale Oehler each logged two-hit performances, while Zach Allison, Lucas Granata, and Frankie Vasquez also tallied base knocks. Jacob Thompson (2-1) hurled six-plus innings on the mound with eight hits and two earned runs allowed, striking out five Cortland batters. Allison, Davis Bryson, and Logan Clark all stole bases for BC as well.
  • Tornados Take Series with DH Split at Berea
    March 05, 2023
    The Brevard College baseball team (10-5) split a nine-inning doubleheader with Berea College (3-8) on Sunday afternoon in Berea, Kentucky. The Tornados surged late offensively in game one of the twin bill, scoring six runs in the game’s last three innings to wrap up an 11-2 win. Brevard found themselves on the wrong side of a comeback attempt in the series finale, as Berea used a four-run seventh inning to propel itself to an 8-5 victory to salvage a game in the three-game set.
  • Brevard Rolls Past Berea in Series Opener

    The Brevard College baseball team (9-4) used three 3-run innings to defeat Berea College (2-7), 11-6, on Saturday evening in Berea, Kentucky.  The meeting was the first between the two institutions since the Mountaineers were a member of the USA South Conference last season.
