Brevard Volleyball Announces Schedule for 2020 Season

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball program, under the direction of Head Coach Anna Grant, has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2020 season. 

The schedule of opponents includes a total of 28 matches, 16 of which coming in USA South Conference play, and 11 contests inside of the Boshamer Gymnasium for the Tornados. 

2020 marks the first season that the Tornados will compete as fully-eligible members of NCAA DIII, as BC will seek a bid into the 2020 USA South Conference Volleyball Postseason Tournament. 

"I am really looking forward to the 2020 season," said Coach Grant. "We have a strong class coming in and a group of returners who are hungry for a successful season. I believe the teams we are set to play out of conference have the potential to give us some confidence moving into USA South play, while also challenging us to be the best version of ourselves. I personally can't wait to compete for a spot in the conference tournament this year and I'm sure it will be a strong motivation for the girls as well."

Brevard opens its 2020 season with a stretch of five road matches beginning on Tuesday, September 1 in Greenville, South Carolina against Bob Jones University at 7 p.m. The Tornados will then head to Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia to take part in a tournament, as BC will take on host Hopkins (Thursday, Sept. 3, 7 p.m.), Randolph College (Friday, Sept. 4, 2 p.m.) Hood College (Friday, Sept. 4, 6 p.m.) and Ferrum College (Saturday, Sept. 5, 9 a.m.). 

The Tornados will return home to host a non-conference tri-match at the Boshamer Gymnasium on Saturday, September 12, where BC will face Salem College at 12 p.m. followed by Pfeiffer University at 4 p.m.

BC will take a brief break from home action with a Monday, September 14 matchup in Emory, Virginia against Emory & Henry College at 6 p.m. before returning to the Boshamer Gymnasium on Saturday, September 19 by hosting a non-conference quad match. The Tornados will play William Peace University at 12 p.m. before closing the action-packed afternoon against Greensboro College at 6 p.m.

The Tornados will open up USA South competition at home on Tuesday, September 22 against Piedmont at 6 p.m. before taking part in their first USA South tri-match in Berea, Kentucky on Saturday, September 26. Brevard will square off against host Berea College at 2 p.m. before matching up with Huntingdon College at 4 p.m. 

Brevard will close out the month of September on Wednesday, September 30 with a non-conference contest in Misenheimer, North Carolina against Pfeiffer at 6 p.m.

BC begins the month of October by facing Bob Jones for the second time in 2020, as the Tornados battle the Bruins on Thursday, October 1 at 7 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Brevard will host a conference tri-match on Saturday, October 3, as the Tornados battle LaGrange College at 12 p.m. followed by Maryville College at 4 p.m. 

The Tornados will play four consecutive conference matches in the state of Georgia, first facing Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia on Wednesday, October 7 at 7 p.m. BC will take part in a conference tri-match hosted by first-year program Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia on Saturday, October 10, facing host Wesleyan at 12 p.m. before finishing play up vs. Covenant College at 4 p.m. BC's stretch of Georgia matches concludes in Demorest, Georgia on Tuesday, October 13 as the Tornados face off against Piedmont College in a match beginning at 7 p.m. 

Brevard then returns home for its final home conference tri-match, where the Tornados will face Berea (12 p.m.) and Huntingdon (4 p.m.) on Saturday, October 17. A week later, BC travels to LaGrange, Georgia on Saturday, October 24 to face host LaGrange at 12 p.m. and Maryville at 2 p.m.

Senior night is set for Friday, October 30 at the Boshamer Gymnasium, where the Tornados will honor their senior class against Agnes Scott at 6 p.m. BC then concludes its regular season with a conference tri-match in Lookout Mountain, Georgia against Covenant at 2 p.m. and Wesleyan at 4 p.m.

BC will then turn its attention to a possible bid into the 2020 USA South Volleyball Tournament. First-round and quarterfinal action is slated for Wednesday, November 4, while the semifinals and championship matches will be on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7.
