  • Parker, Rubio of BC Football Named to Prestigious NFF Hampshire Honor Society

    This academic year, Brevard College Football earned two selections on the 2023 National Football Foundation’s renowned Hampshire Honor Society. BC football student-athletes Justin Parker and Reece Rubio were both selected to the prestigious group of college football athletes across all NCAA divisions and the NAIA.
  • Brevard College Football Releases 2023 Schedule

    The Brevard College Football program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season of play. The slate features five home contests – including two kickoff times at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field – three non-conference matchups and seven games within USA South Conference play. "Brevard will start the 2023 season facing two new opponents: the NAIA squad of Florida’s Warner University and the Division III Virginia powerhouse Hampton-Sydney,” commented Head Coach Bill Khayat, who will enter his seventh season at the helm of Brevard College Football. “In a repeat of last year, we will once again meet a familiar foe in our former conference rival Averett. Conference play will follow as we continue to build not only on our record of finishing strong but also on a commitment of starting strong, featuring a roster of talented returnees and promising newcomers, who are laser-focused on the goal of winning the USA South."
  • Three Tornados Named Football Academic All-District

    Brevard College’s Luis Alvarez, Cooper Hogan and Justin Parker were all named to the Academic All-District team for the Fall 2022 season.  All three Tornados now advance to the ballot for the CSC Academic All-America team.
  • Damalos Concludes Tornado Career Garnering Final Special Teams Player of the Week Honor

    Fifth-year senior placekicker Stamati Damalos concluded his collegiate career in style, garnering the final USA South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honor of the 2022 season.  The senior placekicker from Tarpon Springs, Florida made all seven of his kicks in a 41-27 victory over Southern Virginia last week. Damalos was 2-for-2 on field goals, with a long of 35 yards, and 5-for-5 on extra point attempts.

    The Brevard College football team (5-5, 5-2 USA South) concluded its 2022 campaign with a 41-27 victory over Southern Virginia University (1-9, 1-6 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Knight Stadium in Buena Vista, Virginia. The victory gave the Tornados their fifth conference victory of the season as BC finishes 2022 with a winning record in conference action for the fourth-consecutive season.

    The Brevard College football team (4-5, 4-2 USA South) celebrated its senior class on Saturday afternoon in a special pre-game ceremony alongside the BC cheerleading team. Following the pre-game festivities, the Tornados fell in their first-ever meeting against Belhaven University (8-1, 6-1 USAS), 20-7, as two blocked punts by the Blazers proved costly to the Tornados.
  • Damalos, Smith II Named USA South Athletes of the Week

    Senior placekicker Stamati Damalos earned his third USA South Special Teams Player of the Week nod of the season, while Ernest Smith II was selected as the Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week after Brevard’s 24-21 victory over Maryville last Saturday. 
  • Football Holds On For 24-21 Win at Maryville

    The Brevard College football team (4-4, 4-1 USA South) held on late for a 24-21 victory over Maryville College (4-5, 4-2 USAS) on Saturday in Maryville, Tennessee at Lloyd L. Thornton Stadium. Brevard and Maryville went to halftime tied 7-7 before Brevard scored 17 of the next 24 points and held on to its lead late for the victory.
  • Cole & Lee-Parker Surge in Fourth Quarter to Deliver 24-10 Triumph for Tornados

    The Brevard College football team (3-4, 3-1 USA South) used a 14-0 scoring run in the fourth period to defeat LaGrange College (1-5, 0-4 USAS), 24-10, on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Junior transfer Chancellor Lee-Parker busted off a 73-yard touchdown run to kick off the fourth quarter of play before fifth-year senior Dalton Cole punched in a four-yard rushing TD with 1:09 left to play to ice the victory for the Tornados.
  • Big First Half Sends Nationally-Ranked Hawks to 38-14 Win Against Tornados

    The Brevard College football team (2-4, 2-1 USA South) fell by a final of 38-14 to No. 23/25 Huntingdon College (5-1, 3-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama. Huntingdon, who was ranked in the top 25 of all NCAA DIII football teams in both the D3foootball.com and the AFCA coaches poll, put up 31 unanswered points that included 24 points in the first half en route to the 24-point victory.
  • Naylor and Yoder Collect USA South Weekly Awards

    Brevard College football senior running back Mitchell Yoder and senior linebacker Toby Naylor were each honored by the USA South Conference, as Yoder took home USA South Football Offensive Player of the Week and Naylor was awarded Defensive Player of the Week following big individual performances in BC’s 22-20 victory over Methodist University last Saturday on Homecoming.

    After shutting out the high-powered Monarch offense in the first half, the Brevard College football team (2-3, 2-0 USA South) held off a late Methodist University (2-4, 1-2 USAS) rally and made a goal-line stand on a two-point conversion attempt with less than a minute remaining to seal a 22-20 victory to cap a festive Homecoming weekend on the campus of Brevard College. After shutting out the high-powered Monarch offense in the first half, the Brevard College football team (2-3, 2-0 USA South) held off a late Methodist University (2-4, 1-2 USAS) rally and made a goal-line stand on a two-point conversion attempt with less than a minute remaining to seal a 22-20 victory to cap a festive Homecoming weekend on the campus of Brevard College. Senior running back Mitchell Yoder led a revitalized rushing attack that amassed a season-high 202 yards on the ground, as the Columbus, North Carolina native scampered for 123 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown and a long run of 49 yards on the afternoon. The total marked the fourth time that Yoder has eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in his Tornado career. Chancellor Lee-Parker eclipsed 40 yards on the ground for the second straight week, rushing six times for 49 yards with a 42-yard touchdown to find the endzone for the second contest in a row.
  • Hayes, O’Leary Spark Big First Half to Push Brevard to First Win of 2022, 31-13

    Graduate transfer quarterback Miles Hayes recorded 270 total yards (253 passing, 17 rushing) with three touchdowns, while Jaden O’Leary caught a career-high eight passes for a career-best 114 yards as the Brevard College football team (1-3, 1-0 USA South) scored 28 first-half points en route to a 31-13 victory over Greensboro College (0-5, 0-2 USAS) in its conference opener on Friday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

  • Woods Secures Special Teams Player of the Week after Blocked Punt TD vs. Averett
    September 20, 2022
    Sophomore defensive back James Woods earned USA South Special Teams Player of the Week honors after his blocked punt touchdown against Averett University on Saturday. Woods, a sophomore from Lincolnton, North Carolina, and transfer from Louisburg College, blocked a punt attempt midway through the fourth quarter and returned it for a touchdown to pull Brevard within 10 points, 16-6, in its 23-6 defeat at Averett. Woods also added a career-high five tackles and ½ tackle-for-loss with a pass breakup.
  • Tornados Score Late, But Fall 23-6 in Non-Conference Finale to Cougars

    The Brevard College football team (0-3) closed out the non-conference portion of its 2022 season, dropping a 23-6 decision to Averett University (2-1) on Saturday in Danville, Virginia. Averett held the Tornados scoreless through the first 50 minutes of the game en route to the 17-point victory, avenging a 42-3 win by Brevard last season at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Eli Carr got the start under center for the Tornados, going 16-for-26 with 126 yards, but with three costly interceptions. Late in the fourth quarter, senior quarterback Thomas Kraemer completed the first three passes of his Tornado career with a long of 13 yards and 20 yards total.
  • Early Turnovers Costly as Builders Sink Tornados, 27-7

    The Brevard College football team (0-2) fell 27-7 to The Apprentice School (2-0) in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Virginia.  A pair of first-half turnovers combined with a 0-for-4 mark on fourth-down conversions hampered BC’s efforts to battle back into the contest.
  • Damalos Selected as USA South Special Teams Player of the Week Following Record Kick

    Fifth-year senior placekicker Stamati Damalos was selected in the first edition of the weekly USA South Conference Athletes of the Week honors, earning a nod as the Special Teams Player of the Week after breaking his own school record for longest field goal with a 48-yard make vs. Shorter last Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Damalos, a native of Tarpon Springs, Florida, accounted for all of the Tornados' points in a 45-6 loss to NCAA DII Shorter last week. Damalos was two-for-two on field goal attempts, including a 36-yard make and his record-breaking 48-yard effort.
  • DII Hawks Power Past Tornados in Season Opener

    The Brevard College football team (0-1) opened its 2022 season at home, falling to NCAA DII Shorter University (1-0), 45-6, on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  Stamati Damalos, an All-Region selection by D3football.com in 2021, got off to a hot start, making a pair of field goals from 48 and 36 yards, respectively. Damalos' 48-yarder broke his own school record field goal, set last season against Averett University (47 yards, November 13, 2021). Jerome Bass led all players with 11 tackles (four solo, seven assist) and had BC's lone sack of the afternoon, while Toby Naylor logged 10 tackles. Wyatt Lankford (seven tackles) and Dylan James (seven tackles) also contributed heavily to BC's defensive efforts in the contest, while Kameron Moore forced BC's lone turnover on a fumble near the goal line. 
  • Brevard Football Picked Second in USA South Coaches Poll

    The Brevard College Tornados football program has been tabbed second for the second consecutive season in the annual USA South Conference coaches poll. The Tornados, who received 51 total points and one first-place vote in the poll, finished just behind three-time defending conference champion Huntingdon College, who earned 62 points and six first-place votes.
