Damalos Selected as USA South Special Teams Player of the Week Following Record Kick

BREVARD, N.C. – Fifth-year senior placekicker Stamati Damalos was selected in the first edition of the weekly USA South Conference Athletes of the Week honors, earning a nod as the Special Teams Player of the Week after breaking his own school record for longest field goal with a 48-yard make vs. Shorter last Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Damalos, a native of Tarpon Springs, Florida, accounted for all of the Tornados' points in a 45-6 loss to NCAA DII Shorter last week. Damalos was two-for-two on field goal attempts, including a 36-yard make and his record-breaking 48-yard effort.

Damalos was a USA South Football All-Conference First Team selection last season in a year that saw him go 14-for-19 on field goal attempts and a perfect 27-for-27 mark on extra points, totaling 69 total points for the Tornados on the season. The campaign, which also included a school-record 47-yard field goal that was recently broken, cumulated with a D3football.com All-Region Second Team honor.

The Brevard College football team will look to bounce back next weekend when the Tornados travel to Newport News, Virginia to take on The Apprentice School next Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m.
