Brevard College has announced the selection of the three newest inductees into the Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame with the selections of Scott Dvorak ‘89 (Cross Country/Track & Field), Ray Gill ’05 (Baseball) and Joh Tuttle Tyson ‘10 (Cycling).
Two Brevard College student-athletes were selected as 2022-23 Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District performers, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). BC’s Luis Alvarez and Devon Brodmyer were both named to the Academic All-District team for the 2022-23 season and now advance to the ballot for the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-America team.
A program-best five student-athletes from the Brevard College Cross Country and Track & Field teams have been named 2022-23 Academic All-District performers, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Brevard College Cross Country and Track & Field student-athletes Channing Barker, Hannah Hersh, Haylea-Layne Miller, Isabell Musser and Grace Pukas were all named to the Academic All-District team for the 2022-23 season. The Brevard College Department of Athletics proudly celebrates this year’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). The Tornados will host a celebration at the next home athletics event – the Women’s Basketball game vs. N.C. Wesleyan on Friday, February 3 with tipoff set for 6 p.m. ET at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
The Brevard College men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded the 2022 season at the NCAA DIII South Regional Championships on Saturday in Newport News, Virginia, hosted by Christopher Newport University.
The Brevard College men’s cross country team finished in second place at the 2022 USA South Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships, marking the program’s highest-ever finish at the conference meet on Saturday in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on the campus of NC Wesleyan University.
The Brevard College women’s cross country team finished in fourth place, as junior Zoe Capps led the Tornados with a 10th-place individual finish, earning All-Conference Second Team honors at the 2022 USA South Women’s Cross Country Championship in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on the campus of NC Wesleyan University.
Capps, a junior from Hendersonville, North Carolina, earned the top-10 finish with a time of 24:37.4 in the six-kilometer race to lead the way for Brevard, securing the first All-Conference award of her Tornado career. In addition to her All-Conference finish, Capps was also named to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Brevard College men’s and women’s cross country teams were each selected to finish in third place in the USA South Conference Cross Country Pre-Championship Coaches’ Polls, ahead of the 2022 USA South Cross Country Championships taking place Saturday in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
The Brevard College men’s and women’s cross country teams enjoyed success at the Mike & Mary Kay Johnson Invitational in Berea, Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.
Brevard’s men’s team finished second overall with 46 points, while five Tornados (three men, two women) earned top-15 finishes at the event.
