BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (0-2, 0-2 USAS) fell in its conference opener, 19-3, to Piedmont College (3-5, 2-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Autumn Kraemer led the way for the Tornados with a pair of goals, while Parker Moore put in her first career goal as a member of the BC women's lacrosse team alongside a pair of assists, connecting with Kraemer a pair of times for scores. Grace Vaught dished out her first career assist to Moore, while Carlie Henning saved 10 shots in-goal.

The visiting Lions were led by Emma Fransen and Aislynn Kimbro, who each put six goals into the back of the net. Shelby Minor added five goals, while Fransen dished out a game-high three assists.

Piedmont outshot the Tornados, 35-6, while grabbing nearly double BC's ground balls (27-14). The Lions went 14-of-16 on their clear attempts while converting 4-of-9 free-position shot attempts.

Kimbro and Lindey Ward put a pair of goals in back-to-back to get the scoring before Kraemer cut Piedmont's lead in half, as the Lions held a 2-1 advantage through the first five minutes of action.

Piedmont would then go on a five-goal scoring run, as the Lions expanded their advantage to a six-goal, 7-1 margin. Kraemer halted the scoring stretch with her second goal of the match before a three-goal stretch put Piedmont up 10-2 at the intermission.

The Lions would control the contest from there, putting nine shots into the back of the net to extend their lead to 19-2. Vaught found Moore in the last minute of action, giving the Tornados a late-game goal on their ledger.

BC is slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 24 when the Tornados visit Misenheimer, North Carolina to take on Pfeiffer University in a rematch of their season-opener. The Falcons and Tornados are scheduled to begin play at 6 p.m.
