BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women’s lacrosse team will take the field for the first time in over a year, as the Tornados prepare to open their season at the newly-expanded Ives-Lemel Family Field on Wednesday evening against Pfeiffer University (0-1) in USA South Conference action, with first draw scheduled for 6 p.m.

Live video will be available, free-of-charge, on YouTube.com/ BrevardCollegeTornados, with live statistics on bctornados.com

The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent.

The amended policy limits spectators to two per participating student-athlete, plus students, faculty and staff of the host institution while abiding with all local and state social distancing and capacity directives. No spectators of visiting teams will be permitted to attend. This adjusted policy went into effect for all events beginning on Friday, February 26th.

Wednesday’s contest marks the first home game for the Tornados since a 19-8 triumph over JWU-Denver on March 4, 2020, and its first match since March 8, 2020.

Brevard returns several key contributors from last year’s squad, including its leading goal and point scorer Autumn Kraemer. The sophomore from Stewartstown, Pennsylvania scored 24 goals with three assists for a team-high 27 points in the abbreviated 2020 campaign. Kraemer capped off the shortened season with a nod as the USA South Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week.

BC also brings back KC Collins, who ranked second on the team a season ago with 15 points on nine goals and six assists.

Pfeiffer opened its season last Friday, as the Falcons fell by a final of 14-1 to Ferrum.

The Tornados, led by sixth-year Head Coach Kristin Rosato and first-year Assistant Coach Diana Loaiza, return to their home turf on Saturday, March 20 when the Tornados take on Piedmont College at 1 p.m.
