WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (5-1-1) drew with NC Wesleyan College (2-1-2), 0-0 in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon at Truist Sports Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Senior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas (5-1-1) picked up her fifth shutout of the season as the Tornados held NC Wesleyan scoreless thanks to an impressive defensive effort from Rojas and her back-line of Lena Hatter, Emma White, Abbie Worsencroft, and Autumn Wright. The Murrieta, California native and reigning USA South Defensive Player of the Week made four total saves to keep the clean sheet intact for the Tornados.

Freshman forward Taylor Richardson led all Tornados with three shot attempts, with two finding the target, while Tae Brown, Alyssa Hetherington, Abbie Petrosky, and White each logged two shots.

All told, Brevard outshot NCWC, 12-7, while the Battling Bishops won a pair of corner kicks.

The Tornados and Battling Bishops played scoreless through the first half, with Brevard leading the shot total, 6-5, with four shots being on-target.

Following consecutive shot attempts from NC Wesleyan, one of which being saved by Rojas, BC's Richardson and Wright each took attempts on-goal. Brown took Brevard's next pair of attempts, as one hit the frame of goal off the left post, denying BC the scoring opportunity. Hetherington and Richardson took BC's final two attempts of the half, as both shots were saved by NC Wesleyan's Alicia Jacobs.

Both sides opened up the second half with a pair of shot attempts each. The Tornados then went on a 4-0 shot attempt stretch to end the second half.

With 30 seconds left in the second half, Wright was fouled by the Bishops just inside their attacking half. White then sent a long ball into the box where junior Jessica Tenjhay got her head to the ball as it eventually landed to the feet of Petrosky, who finished the chance. The Tornados were called offsides, however, negating the match-winning opportunity.

The Tornados now turn their attention to a weekend contest at Ives-Lemel Family Field against LaGrange College on Sunday, March 21 at 3 p.m. The match marks Senior Day for the Tornado women's soccer team, as seniors Brenna Innis, Amy Juarez, Sallie Riggan, and Rebeccah Rojas will be honored in a special pregame ceremony.
