Denaga and Hill Earn Weekly USA South Awards
BREVARD, N.C. - Sophomore midfielder Emily Denaga and freshman attacker/midfielder Xan Hill earned USA South Conference Athlete of the Week honors after a record-breaking week for the Tornados. 
 
Denaga, a Buford, Georgia sophomore midfielder totaled 16 points on 11 goals and five assists with 28 draw controls, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for the Tornados against USA South foes. In a 24-4 win over Greensboro, Denaga scored four times with three assists, 13 draw controls, four caused turnovers, and three ground balls. In a 27-4 victory over William Peace, Denaga scored seven goals with two assists, a program-record tying 15 draw controls, and one ground ball.
 
Denaga, the program single-season record holder for draw controls, has totaled 41 goals and 21 assists for 62 points this season, grabbed 37 ground balls, won 133 draw controls, and caused 20 turnovers for the Tornados. In her career, she has logged 85 goals, 31 assists, 116 points, and won 232 draw controls in 28 games played. 
 
Hill, a Fort  Mill, South Carolina freshman attacker/midfielder totaled 17 points on eight goals and nine assists with six ground balls, five caused turnovers, and one draw control as the Tornados posted a 2-0 record against USA South foes. In a 24-4 win over Greensboro, Hill scored three times with two assists, three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and one draw control. In a 27-4 victory over William Peace, Hill tied the program single-game record with 12 points on five goals and seven assists to go along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Hill has logged 27 goals, 15 assists, 42 points, 26 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers through 11 games in her freshman season of competition. 
 
Denaga, Hill, and the rest of the Brevard College women's lacrosse team will continue their program record-setting season with a home conference contest against Piedmont University on Wednesday at 5 p.m. before hosting Senior Day on Saturday at 3 p.m. vs. Southern Virginia University. 
 
Denaga and Hill's awards give BC a grand total of 51 weekly awards from the USA South so far in 2022-23.
