Parker Moore Sets Single-Game Program Goal Record; Tornados Dominate Ridge Rivalry Game, 23-11

BREVARD, N.C. – Senior attacker Parker Moore shattered the single-game program record for goals scored with 11, as the Brevard College women's lacrosse team (9-2) dominated the second-annual Ridge Rivalry game over Warren Wilson College (2-4), 23-11 on Friday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

The contest, which was originally scheduled to be played at Warren Wilson, was moved to the campus of Brevard due to field conditions.

Moore, a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, scored 11 goals including six from the free position to shatter the previous single-game mark of nine goals held by numerous Tornados, including Moore herself. Sophomore midfielder Emily Denaga added six goals and three assists for nine points and also broke her own single-season record for draw controls, as the Buford, Georgia native tallied 13 on Friday to bring her season total to 105.

Freshman attacker/midfielder Paige Kneubuhler added four goals and caused three turnovers defensively while grabbing five ground balls, while Autumn Kraemer added a goal, and sophomore midfielder Grace Blanton scored her first goal of the season. Savannah Colliver dished out an assist as Brevard enjoyed a stellar offensive performance as a unit.

Kneubuhler, Moore, Kraemer, Ashton Cashwell, and Cassidy Hutto all caused multiple turnovers defensively for the Tornados, while goalkeeper Lex MacLauchlin (9-2) made four saves defensively.

Warren Wilson was led by Sydney Weber, who scored seven goals with an assist for eight points. Dylan Edwards added four goals for the visiting Owls.

Brevard held a 36-21 shooting advantage and picked up 29 ground balls to WWC's one. BC went 17-for-22 on clear attempts and forced Warren Wilson into 34 turnovers total (17 caused turnovers). Brevard held a slight 19-16 edge on the draw and converted 11 of its 20 free-position attempts.

Warren Wilson's Weber scored first before Denaga answered just 23 seconds later. The visitors were able to score consecutive goals before BC ended the first period on a 4-0 scoring run to take a 5-3 lead into the second quarter.

Edwards scored back-to-back goals for the Owls to even things back up, 5-5 just under two minutes into the second quarter. The Tornados responded in a big way, however, rattling off eight-straight goals to push their advantage to a 13-5 margin at the intermission. Moore took over for Brevard, scoring six goals during this stretch with Denaga and Kneubuhler each adding a goal on the pivotal run for the Tornados.

Warren Wilson came out of the break and scored five-straight goals of its own through the first eight minutes of play in the third period. However, the Tornados would not be denied, ending the third quarter on a 5-0 scoring run to push their lead back up to eight goals, 18-10, with the fourth and final period coming up. Brevard wrapped up the rivalry win by outscoring the Owls 5-1 in the final stanza as Moore broke the single-game program goal record in the process to cap off the 12-goal win, 23-11.

The victory – Brevard's ninth of the season – pushes its program-record win streak to five games in a row. The triumph also ties the 2023 team with BC's 2016 squad (9-7) for the most single-season wins in Brevard women's lacrosse history.

The Tornados return to USA South Conference action on Monday, April 10 at 6 p.m. as Brevard hosts Greensboro College at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
