Kraemer Breaks Program Single-Game Points Record; Tornados Dominate Vixens 18-5

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Senior attacker Autumn Kraemer set a new program record with 12 points (nine goals, three assists) as the Brevard College women's lacrosse team (3-1) dominated Sweet Briar College (1-2) 18-5 on Monday afternoon in Sweet Briar, Virginia.

Kraemer, a senior from Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, tied a program-high for single-game goals with nine and dished out three assists for a career and program-best 12-point mark as the Tornados cruised to their third victory in four games to begin the 2023 season. Senior attacker Parker Moore added four goals and five assists for nine points herself, while Paige Kneubuhler built upon her impressive freshman campaign with two goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Emiy Denaga won eight draw controls and got on the score sheet alongside senior Grace Vaught with one goal each, while Savannah Colliver added an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Lex MacLauchlin (3-1) made five saves in the win for Brevard.

Sweet Briar was led offensively by Sofia Martinez, who scored three goals on seven shot attempts for the Vixens.

BC opened up a two-goal lead within the first minute played as Kraemer put two goals into the back of the net. Following an SBC goal, the Tornados put together a 5-0 scoring run to end the quarter as Brevard held a 7-1 advantage after the first period.

The hosts scored to open the second stanza, but three-consecutive goals for Moore gave Brevard a 10-2 advantage. Kraemer scored her fourth goal with 1:34 left in the first half as the Tornados took an 11-3 lead into the locker room.

Sweet Briar scored the first two goals of the second half, but Kraemer carried Brevard forward in the third quarter with four-straight goals as the Tornados opened up a 10-goal lead after three quarters, 15-5.

Brevard scored three goals in the fourth period with Vaught and Nicole Volk finding the back of the net. Kraemer's record-breaking point came with 4:06 left to play on a free-position shot attempt, as the Tornados closed out the dominant 13-goal victory.

BC held a 48-15 shot advantage and won 19 draw controls to Sweet Briar's eight. Overall, the Tornados were 11-for-14 on clear attempts as well.

The Tornados close out their Spring Break trip on Wednesday with a 1 p.m. start time in Greensboro, North Carolina vs. Guilford College.
