Staff Highlight Series: Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Kristin Rosato

BREVARD, N.C. - Throughout the Fall, the Brevard College Department of Athletics will be highlighting its staff members in a tri-weekly Staff Highlight Series, giving members of the Athletic Administration and Coaching Staff the opportunity to introduce themselves to the BC community through a series of questions and biographical elements.

Next up in BC's Staff Highlight Series is Brevard College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Kristin Rosato, a former women's soccer student-athlete at the University of Montevallo.

bctornados.com: Who has been the biggest influence in your professional career?

Coach Rosato: Past coaches I played for or coached under. Specifically Octavia Saunders (Ocky) - former Brevard Women's Soccer Assistant and current Salem College Head Women's Soccer Coach. We are former teammates and now great supporters of one another. I take a lot from our conversations and it has been fun to see the growth of both of our programs.

Coach Rosato: Be ready to work! It's not just about the X's and O's. Build relationships with your players and make sure they know how much you care on and off the field.

Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Kristin Rosato enters her sixth season at the helm of Brevard College Women's Lacrosse, and her seventh season overall in Brevard College Athletics.

Juan Mascaro announced the promotion of Kristin Rosato to head coach of Brevard's women's lacrosse program on April 28, 2015.

Rosato served as an assistant coach for the 2015 season under Mascaro, who took over the program on an interim basis in January. Together, Mascaro and Rosato coached the Tornados to a 3-12 record in the program's second season of existence. Brevard earned its first women's lacrosse win in school history on March 21 and knocked off Lincoln Memorial in April for the team's first-ever conference victory.

In addition to the role she played in guiding the team to significant milestones, Rosato helped mentor Brevard's first-ever all-conference honoree. Freshman Caitlyn Nemeth was named all-South Atlantic Conference honorable mention after finishing the season 11th in Division II with 47 goals this season. She also garnered Brevard's first AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week nod, netting 14 goals and dishing out four assists over a two-game span in April.

Rosato originally came to Brevard as a soccer coach following a stellar playing career at Montevallo. As an assistant in the women's soccer program, Rosato and head coach Shigeyoshi Shinohara led the Tornados to their most wins since the program's first season in the Division II ranks and highest-ever SAC win total.

During her first season at the helm of the Tornados women's lacrosse program, Rosato guided Brevard to their first South Atlantic Conference postseason appearance with a 9-7 overall record and a 4-4 league mark. That same year the program set records for wins in a season with nine, goals (162), assists (74), caused turnovers (140) and ground balls (362). In addition to the Tornados rewriting the record books, two of Rosato's players were named to the All-Conference team, as Amber Breedy was named to the second team, while Caitlyn Nemeth earned SAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year honors. Nemeth would finish the year tops in the nation with 4.47 goals per game while setting the SAC record for goals in a season with 67.
