Spring Senior Profile: Kelly Wilkins #ThankYouSeniors

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting April 1 throughout the Spring of 2020, bctornados.com will be featuring senior student-athletes from Spring sports to honor their dedication and commitment to Brevard College Athletics through their Tornado careers.

BREVARD, N.C. – Senior attacker Kelly Wilkins, a member of the Brevard College Women's Lacrosse program for three seasons, is the next honoree in BC Athletics' Spring Senior Profile series, highlighting and honoring 2020 seniors in Spring sports who had their respective seasons cut short due to the impact of COVID-19.

Wilkins, a native of Denver, N.C., graduated from Brevard with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with minors in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Her future plans include becoming a doctor of Physical Therapy and to pursue a career to work with United States Marines who were injured in the line of duty, with the goal of returning them to active duty.

On the field, Wilkins was a key piece to the Tornado offensive attack through her women's lacrosse career. The senior totaled 12 goals and nine assists for 21 career points, grabbed 21 career ground balls, won seven draw controls, caused six turnovers, and took a total of 27 shots and 19 shots-on-goal.

Wilkins scored a career-high seven goals during her junior season in 2019, including a career-best three-goal performance in a home match against Brenau University on February 9, 2019. In BC's lone home contest of the 2020 campaign, Wilkins dished out a career-high five assists in the victory over Johnson & Wales – Denver on March 4. This five-assist outburst is tied for third-most in a single game in program history for BC women's lacrosse.

Off the field, Wilkins was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was on its Executive Board as the Marketing Coordinator. Academically, Wilkins was selected as a Master Logician in 2016 and has been selected to both the Honor Roll and Dean's List at BC.

"My favorite memory at Brevard College was our impromptu senior night and practice with the team," commented Wilkins. "It may not have gone as we originally planned, but I would not trade that memory or that time with my favorite people for the world."
