Spring Senior Profile: Nicole O’Connor #ThankYouSeniors

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting April 1 throughout the Spring of 2020, bctornados.com will be featuring senior student-athletes from Spring sports to honor their dedication and commitment to Brevard College Athletics through their Tornado careers.

BREVARD, N.C. – Senior defender Nicole O'Connor, a four-year member of the Brevard College Women's Lacrosse team, is the next honoree in BC Athletics' Spring Senior Profile series, highlighting and honoring 2020 seniors in Spring sports who had their respective seasons cut short due to the impact of COVID-19.

O'Connor, a native of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, will graduate from Brevard College with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.

In addition to being on the women's lacrosse team at BC, O'Connor is a member of Alpha Phi Lambda and the Order of the Sword and Shield, BC's Criminal Justice Honor Societies. Academically, O'Connor was selected to the Dean's List four times in addition to one Honor Roll selection at Brevard.

O'Connor has served as a key piece to the Brevard College defense throughout her four-year career with the Tornados. The defender appeared in 44 games total and started in 35 contests. O'Connor racked up 49 ground balls, 14 draw controls, and 25 caused turnovers in her career while also scoring three goals.

In her junior campaign, O'Connor tallied a career-high 26 ground balls while also causing 14 turnovers. 2019 also saw her put a pair of goals in the back of the net, setting a new career-best mark.

O'Connor logged a single-game career-high five ground balls in a victory on February 9, 2019, against Brenau University while causing a career-best three turnovers vs. Methodist University on April 6, 2019.

"My favorite memory from Brevard College would have to be our Spring Breaks the past three years," commented O'Connor. "We would have team dinners where Micaiah (Vacchiano) and I would cook for the team. We would make homemade spaghetti and meatballs and spend a few hours cooking before everyone else would come over. After we ate, we would have a game night where we played spoons and other games. Brevard's Women's Lacrosse team left me with a lot of memories and I do cherish every single one."
