BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College Women's Lacrosse freshman Katherine Collins has been selected as the USA South Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Tornados to an undefeated 2-0 weekend on the road at USA South competition.
The Marietta, Georgia freshman goalkeeper collected two wins over USA South opposition last week by collecting 16 saves and eight ground balls. In a 10-8 win over LaGrange, Collins totaled seven saves and one ground ball. In a 7-6 victory over Huntingdon, Collins stopped nine shots and grabbed seven ground balls.
The distinction for Collins marks the 16th USA South weekly honor garnered by a Brevard College student-athlete this academic year, and the second BC Women's Lacrosse student-athlete selected for an award as teammate Hannah Scharf garnered Rookie of the Week honors earlier in the season.

Collins and the rest of the BC Women's Lacrosse team (6-3, 3-1 USAS) have this week off before playing three USA South contests next week. The Tornados continue its season long five-game road swing on Wednesday, March 27 at Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga. before two-straight weekend road tests on Saturday, March 30 at Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C. , and on Sunday, March 31 at N.C. Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, N.C.
The Tornados return home on Saturday, April 6 for a match against the Methodist Monarchs.
