MACON, Ga. – Senior forward Destiny Williams matched a career-high with 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Brevard College women's basketball team (3-5, 3-5 USAS) to a 69-60 USA South Conference victory over Wesleyan College (2-8, 2-8 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Macon, Georgia.

Williams tallied 21 points on eight made field goals, including two 3-pointers. The 21 points matched her career-high set on January 23, 2019, at Covenant during the Aiken, South Carolina native's sophomore season. Williams was also the team's leading rebounder on Saturday with 10 boards, including three coming off the offensive glass. The 21-point, 10-rebound performance marked the senior's eighth career double-double in a Tornado uniform.

Senior Shakirah Thompson also scored in double figures with 12 points on four made 3-pointers. Freshman guard Calli Wells added seven points, while junior Avery Lockwood posted six points and six rebounds. Senior Bailey Ray was the contest's most productive distributor, coming off the bench to dish out a game-high six assists.

Brevard started the game with an early scoring flurry, opening up a 10-0 advantage in the first four minutes of action sparked by a Thompson 3-pointer to open the scoring. BC maintained its lead throughout the first quarter with Williams leading the way with seven points in the period.

Thompson hit two more 3-pointers in the second period as the Tornados went on to take a 37-25 lead into halftime. Led by Thompson, BC shot an ultra-efficient 7-of-10 from behind the arc in the first half to pave the way for the 12-point advantage at the intermission.

Wesleyan was able to cut BC's lead to nine points at the end of three quarters. However, the Tornados held off the Wolves in the final stanza to secure the nine-point victory and the second conference win in as many days.

Next up for Brevard is a third consecutive USA South Conference game played in the peach state as the Tornados will travel to Agnes Scott on Tuesday with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. in Decatur, Georgia. The Brevard-Agnes Scott match-up is a rescheduled contest that was originally scheduled for January 9.
