LAGRANGE, Ga. - Four Tornados scored in double figures as the Brevard College women's basketball team (6-13, 4-9 USAS) picked up a USA South Conference road victory, 65-54, over the LaGrange Panthers (12-7, 6-5 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in LaGrange, Georgia.

The victory avenged an early-season setback to the Panthers on November 29, 2019, at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

Juniors Taryn Ledford and Destiny Williams each led the Tornado offense with 13 points apiece. Ledford came off the bench to make 5-of-10 shots from the field including three made 3-pointers. Williams stuffed the stat sheet with a near double-double effort of 13 points and nine rebounds while dishing out three assists and recording two steals.

Junior point guard Ty'She Washington added 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, while Deja Riddick scored 10 points, grabbed seven boards, and dished out four assists while going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Senior center Krysta Davis added eight rebounds to Brevard's total of 35 for the game.

LaGrange boasted two double-digit scorers of its own in Mykelli Taylor (12 points) and Adreona Brown (11 points).

Brevard shot 38.9% from the field and drained 11-of-30 attempts from beyond the arc (36.7%). LaGrange slightly out-rebounded Brevard, 40-35, while the Tornados dished out three more assists (12-9) than LaGrange.

BC was propelled to victory by its ability to capitalize on LaGrange's 12 turnovers, scoring  21 points-off-turnovers in the contest to the Panthers' two.

Saturday's contest featured just one lead change, as Brevard used a Victoria Green 3-pointer at the 8:33 mark in the second quarter to take a lead that it would not relinquish. The Tornados used a 10-0 scoring run to push their lead to as many as 12 points in the second frame before taking a nine-point lead, 32-23, into the halftime intermission.

Williams boosted Brevard's offense with nine points in the third quarter to help BC extend its lead out to 13 points, 49-36 with 2:26 left in the period thanks to a Ledford 3-point jumper. The Tornados led the Panthers by 11 points, 50-39, heading into the contest's final quarter.

LaGrange was only able to cut Brevard's lead to eight points, as the Tornados controlled the pace in the final period. Brevard extended its advantage to a game-best 15 points, 61-46 after Shakirah Thompson drilled a long-range bucket. From there, the Tornados were able to coast to victory, 64-53.

Brevard will continue its four-game road trip with a 7 p.m. tip-off in Greenville, South Carolina against Bob Jones University on Tuesday, February 4. Brevard will be in search of a season sweep over the Bruins, as BC earned a 64-57 victory at the Boshamer Gymnasium back on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
