OFFICIAL USA SOUTH RELEASES: MEN'S | WOMEN'S
BEREA, Ky. – The Brevard College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams raked in nine total postseason awards from the USA South following the conclusion of the 2022 USA South Conference Track & Field Championships in Berea, Kentucky.
BC earned two first-team honors, one second-team award, and four third-team accolades while also placing a pair of Tornados on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Jerome Bass earned All-Conference First Team honors after winning the Men's Shot Put event with an attempt of 15.08 meters. Haylea-Layne Miller set a new all-time USA South Conference record in the Women's 400-Meter Hurdles, finishing in 1:06.63 to win the event and earn All-Conference First Team honors.
Bass placed second in the Men's Discus Throw with a personal-record 36.90m attempt to garner All-Conference Second Team accolades.
Sophomore distance runners Garrett Spangler and George Wells each earned All-Conference Third Team accolades after their respective finishes. Spangler finished the Men's 10,000-Meter Race in 33:46.17, while Wells ran the Men's 800-Meter Race in 1:58.42 to capture the pair of third-team honors.
On the women's side, Miller captured All-Conference Third Team in the Women's 100-Meter Hurdles with a time of 17.63, while Channing Barker secured All-Conference Third Team with a 2:23.39 finish in the Women's 800-Meter Race.
RJ Everett and Zoe Capps represented the Tornados on the USA South Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
Overall, Brevard's men's squad placed sixth with the women finishing ninth in the Conference Championship meet.
