Tornados Compete in Montreat Invitational

MONTREAT, N.C. – The Brevard College track & field team continued its Spring 2021 slate of competition on Friday and Saturday, taking part in the highly-competitive Montreat Invitational held at Montreat College.

On the first day of action, George Wells led the Tornados once again in the 1,500-meter run, finishing top-20 in 16th place overall with a 4:10.44 time that was good enough for fourth in his heat. Devon Brodmyer secured a 30th-place after running the event in 4:17.90 that was tops in his heat.

Zoe Capps competed in the 5,000-meter run on women's distance side, while six Tornados competed in the men's 5,000-meter run.

Saturday's action was highlighted by Kelia Oliver's top-20 finish in women's discus with a 29.78m throw, while also securing a 24th-place result In women's shot put, posting a 9.55m in the event.

Wells and Brodmyer both finished top-25 in the men's 800-meter run, as Wells and Brodmyer were neck-and-neck and finished 21st and 22nd, respectively.

The Tornados will now have a bye weekend before resuming action on Sunday, April 11 at the Southside Fitness Invitational in Hickory, North Carolina.
