CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Track & Field team took part in the Catamount Classic on the campus of Western Carolina University on Saturday afternoon.

The Tornados flashed their prowess in the Men's 100 Meter Dash, Men's 200 Meter Dash, Men's 1500 Meter Run, Men's 4x100 Meter Relay, Men's Shot Put, and Men's Discus Throw against stiff NCAA DI, DII, and NAIA competition.

Brevard placed two student-athletes in the top-10 in the Men's 100 Meter Dash event: CJ Walton (8th, 11.17) and Jamerial Parks (10th, 11.19). Both Parks and Walton also finished top-10 in the Men's 200 Meter Dash. Parks finished seventh with a time of 22.49, while Walton posted a time of 22.80, which ranked 10th.

BC freshman Gavin Morgan, who completed a stellar 5k time last weekend at the Lenoir-Rhyne Classic, competed in the Men's 1500 Meter Run this week. Morgan finished eighth out of 16 participants, finishing the event in 4:17.25.

The BC 4x100 Men's Relay team of Parks, Walton, Quentin Jackson, and Eddie Dean garnered their highest finish of the season, finishing third out of seven relay teams. The quartet ran the event in 42.41, just .97 off of the winners.

Tornado thrower Kyle Fennell finished top-15 in both the Shot Put and Discus Throw events. Fennell tallied 12.06m in Shot Put, followed by 32.20 in Discus Throw, where he finished 13th and 14th, respectively.

Brevard now turns its attention to the USA South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are set to take place in Berea, Kentucky next weekend from Friday, April 18 to Saturday, April 19. The Tornados will not be eligible for the team championship due to NCAA DIII reclassification but will be eligible to place individually and receive all-conference honors based on their finish.
