DEMOREST, Ga. - The Brevard College softball team (3-7, 2-2 USAS) fell in both games of a USA South Conference doubleheader at Piedmont College (7-7, 2-0 USAS) on Thursday afternoon in Demorest, Georgia.

GAME ONE – PIEDMONT 13, BREVARD 0 (5 INNINGS)

Autumn Lollis was able to muster BC's lone hit of the first contest,  a one-out single that broke up Piedmont's combined no-hit bid. Taylor Hannah and Micayla McCoy each drew a pair of walks to represent Tornado baserunners in the game.

McCoy got the start for the Tornados, striking out four batters in four innings of work. Lindsey Tolle also made her collegiate debut in the game.

Piedmont scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first with an RBI-single before tacking on four runs in the bottom of the third. An eight-run fourth inning put the contest out of reach, as the hosts cruised to a 13-0 victory.

GAME TWO – PIEDMONT 9, BREVARD 1 (6 INNINGS)

The backend of the conference doubleheader was a tightly-contested matchup through the first four frames before a big fifth-inning from Piedmont allowed for a walk-off opportunity in the sixth, as the Lions pulled away for the 9-1 triumph.

Hannah and Emily White each accounted for a pair of singles, as the duo each went 2-for-3 in the game. Jocelyn Folkers drove home Katelynn Olive for the lone Tornado run in the matchup.

Piedmont scratched across its first run in the bottom of the first following a BC error, however, the Tornados matched the score in the top of the second as Folkers recorded an RBI-groundout with the bases loaded that brought Olive across, tying the game at 1-1.

Both sides went 1-2-3 in the third, as Piedmont broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth with a leadoff triple and sacrifice fly. Brevard attempted to answer in the top of the fifth after Hannah reached on an error, but Piedmont caught her stealing to force the second out of the frame. White singled on the ensuing at-bat, but a force out ended the half-inning.

Piedmont put up a six-spot in the bottom of the fifth to pull away with an 8-1 lead, with the Lions walking off with the victory after an RBI-groundout in the bottom of the sixth.

BC returns home next Wednesday, April 7 as the Tornados host Covenant College in a conference doubleheader at the BC Softball Field, with game times scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.
