Men's Lacrosse Falls in Conference Opener
DEMOREST, Ga. - The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (0-3, 0-1 USAS) dropped its conference-opening contest, 26-2, to USA South foe Piedmont College (1-4, 1-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Demorest, Georgia.

Senior attacker Sam Duffie scored a goal while snagging four ground balls in addition to junior attacker Evan Francios' two-point outing, as the Charlotte native put his first goal of 2021 in while also dishing out an assist. Devin McCarragher logged 16 saves while also causing a team-high two caused turnovers.

Piedmont was led by Brady Jenks, who tallied five goals to go alongside Ian Parr's four scores. 11 different Lions etched their names onto the score sheet in the contest.

The Lions used dominant faceoff play to kickstart their offense, as Piedmont claimed 28-of-32 faceoffs in the contest. The hosts were able to outshoot the Tornados, 59-20, while picking up 69 ground balls. PC was also 18-of-21 on its clear attempts in comparison to BC's 17-of-29 mark.

Piedmont started the game on a 5-0 scoring run before Francois' unassisted strike put BC on the scoreboard. The Lions would keep the pressure on from there, scoring a trio of goals to close out the first quarter before hanging a 12-spot of scores in the second quarter to take a 20-1 lead into the intermission.

Duffie found the scoresheet midway through the third quarter before the Lions closed the contest out, clinching the 26-2 victory in its conference debut.

Brevard is slated to return to action on Tuesday, March 23 at 5 p.m. when the Tornados take on Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia in a non-conference matchup.
