Tornados Trek to Demorest for Conference-Opener

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (0-2) opens its conference schedule on Saturday afternoon when the Tornados travel to Demorest, Georgia to play Piedmont College (0-4) at 12 p.m.

The matchup will mark BC's first since a Friday, March 5 road trip at Averett University.

In BC's last outing, senior attacker Sam Duffie logged a season-high four goals with an assist for a game-best five points on the afternoon. Freshman midfielder Nate Stone added his first two collegiate scores, while Jack Davis also found the back of the net for the first time in his college career. Goalkeeper Devin McCarragher totaled a new career-high with 16 saves, while Nate Ellen snagged a team-best five ground balls and Trystan Wallace caused a pair of turnovers.

Duffie currently leads all Tornado goalscorers with seven goals and an assist for eight total points this season. McCarragher currently ranks third in the USA South with a 57.4 save percentage.

Avery Jenks comes into Saturday's contest leading the Lions with 10 goals scored, while Johnny Matrona has tallied 60 saves in-goal.

The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent.

The amended policy limits spectators to two per participating student-athlete, plus students, faculty and staff of the host institution while abiding with all local and state social distancing and capacity directives. No spectators of visiting teams will be permitted to attend. This adjusted policy went into effect for all events beginning on Friday, February 26th.

BC will return to action on Tuesday, March 23 when the Tornados travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to face Randolph College at 5 p.m.
