BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Tornados Men's Basketball team gears up for its long-awaited season-opening contest, hosting Greensboro College (1-5) in its home-opener at the Boshamer Gymnasium on Sunday, with tip-off slated for 3 p.m.

BC men's basketball, led by Head Coach Lee Burgess (ninth year) and Assistant Coach Miles Leathers (second season), is coming off a 2019-20 season that saw the Tornados earn their most home wins (five) since the 2010-11 season and their most conference victories (six) since the 2014-15 campaign. The Tornados welcome a robust class of new talent, with 14 newcomers alongside five returning student-athletes.

Greensboro comes into play on Sunday with a 1-5 record on the season, as the Pride have been in action since early December facing off in non-conference contests and exhibitions. Greensboro's early season has been highlighted by a victory over fellow USA South Conference member Piedmont College, 67-62, on December 10. The Pride also earned an impressive 67-64 victory over NCAA DI member Longwood University on December 6 in an exhibition matchup on the road.

Through six regular-season contests, the Pride have been led by Greyson Collins and Matthew Brown, who have averaged 13.7 and 12.7 points-per-game, respectively.

The Tornados are slated to kick off their USA South Conference schedule next weekend as Brevard plays host to Covenant College in a conference doubleheader at the Boshamer Gymnasium. The Tornados and Scots face off on Friday, January 15 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, January 16 at 3 p.m.

In an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators will not be permitted to attend Brevard College men's and women's basketball home games this season at the Boshamer Gymnasium on the BC campus.  Members of participating teams, game officials, media, and other essential personnel relevant to event operations will be the only individuals permitted into the venue for 2020-21 Brevard College basketball games. The policy is in accordance with the USA South Conference's policy announced on January 7, 2021.

Live video broadcasts of all home men's and women's basketball games will be available via livestream, free of charge, on the Brevard College Athletics YouTube channel.  For complete schedules and links to broadcasts for Brevard College men's and women's basketball, go to www.bctornados.com.  For further coverage of BC men's and women's basketball, including interviews with coaches and student-athletes, be sure to tune in to Tornado Talk every Monday night at 7 p.m. on the Brevard College Tornado Athletics Facebook page.
