MONTREAT, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's Basketball team (4-6, 1-2 USAS) dropped its final non-conference game of the season against Montreat College (9-2) by a final score of 95-72 on New Year's Eve.

Junior guard Levi Lamb, the Tornados' leading scorer thus far in 2018-19, led the way for Brevard with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting while grabbing four rebounds.

Freshman forward Noah Lea added 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting off the bench for the Tornados, while sophomore forward Cannon Lamb tallied 11 points.

The Cavaliers were led by four double-digit scorers on the afternoon. Austin Butler tallied a game-high 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Nicodemus Payne added 15 points shooting an impressive 7-of-8 from the field.

Off the bench, Montreat was led by its duo of David Caldwell and Eric Reed. Caldwell put up 16 points while shooting 3-of-4 from long range, and Reed tallied 14 points to round out the double-digit scoring efforts for the Cavaliers.

Montreat jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the contest. Brevard was able to keep the deficit within single digits for a majority of the first half, however, a 15-0 scoring run late in the first half propelled the Cavaliers to a 44-29 advantage at the half.

The Cavaliers continued to apply pressure in the second stanza, eventually pulling away from the Tornados completely for a comfortable 95-72 victory.

Montreat's victory was in large part thanks to the work that it did on the boards. The Cavaliers held a 47-23 rebounding advantage over Brevard. Montreat's 18-3 offensive rebounding advantage led to 18 total second-chance points.

Brevard returns to action on Saturday, January 5 for a USA South Conference matchup in Fayetteville, N.C. against the Methodist Monarchs (5-7, 3-1 USAS).
