BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College baseball team (6-8) fell in a midweek contest at Gil Coan Field, 17-3, as the Pfeiffer University Falcons (5-5) evened up the season series on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman outfielder Logan Clark enjoyed a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while Daiquon Davenport, Peter Fumero, and Holden Lanier also logged multi-hit performances against Pfeiffer. Davenport and Lanier each came across to score, while Fumero and Lanier tallied two of BC's three RBI's in the contest.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Cameron Cook (0-1) started the first game of his collegiate career, striking out four Falcons in 3.1 innings while retiring the first nine batters that he faced. Bryce Bowers struck out the side in his lone inning of work, as eight different Tornados saw action on the mound.

The Tornados broke open the scoring first in the matchup, as Lanier hit a single to left field that drove home JJ Wilkes to give BC the 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first inning. Cook held the Falcons in check through the first three innings, holding Pfeiffer hitless with four K's.

The Falcons were able to break through in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs to take a four-run lead, 5-1. Fumero helped cut the Pfeiffer lead to three runs after a sacrifice fly brought home Lanier in the bottom half of the frame.

Pfeiffer was able to extend their lead back up to a seven-run, 9-2 margin after three scores in the fifth and one in the sixth. Zach Allison kept the Tornados within striking distance with an RBI-single that drove home Davenport, cutting Pfeiffer's advantage to 9-3.

The Falcons closed out the contest in the top of the eighth inning, scoring eight runs to take a commanding 17-3 advantage that forced the contest to conclude via mercy rule after the eighth frame.

BC is scheduled to open up conference action on the road this weekend when the Tornados travel to Maryville, Tennessee for a three-game USA South Conference series. Brevard will face Maryville College on Friday, April 2 at 1 p.m., with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at 12 and 3:30 p.m.
