Nado Newcomer Spotlight: Cross Country Welcomes 10 to 2020-21 Squad

BREVARD, N.C. – Throughout the Fall of 2020, the Brevard College Department of Athletics will be highlighting the new faces in the BC Tornado family, welcoming the freshman and newcomer student-athletes who will be joining Tornado teams during the 2020-21 athletic seasons.

Next up in this series is the BC Cross Country team, under the direction of Head Coach Darryll Patrick and Assistant Coach Jordan Tager. The Tornados will welcome a total of 10 student-athletes to their team this upcoming season.

"We are very excited about our freshman class," says Darryll Patrick. "They bring a lot of energy and passion for the sport while understanding there is room for improvement. They show up every day embracing the challenges that involve collegiate cross country. Our fall season was very successful as we got to see them develop throughout the course of 10 weeks of training with some running personal bests In time trials and workouts. We expect to build upon their early success and contend for conference championships throughout their four years and I look forward to seeing their growth into young men and women in the process."

Devon Brodmyer- Freshman- Marietta, Ga.- Lassiter High School

The Marietta, Georgia native finished in third place in his high school regional 3,200-meter run. He will be a Business and Organizational Leadership major at Brevard College.

Zoe Capps- Freshman- Hendersonville, N.C.- Homeschool

The Hendersonville, North Carolina native earned the Trailblazer Award and the Trailblazer Most Valuable Player Award. She will be a Pre-Veterinarian major at Brevard College.

 

 

 

Dylan DiCicco- Freshman- Murphy, N.C.- Tri County Early College High School

The Murphy, North Carolina native earned the Prefontaine Award three times, the Outstanding Male Indoor Track Award twice, and the Most Improved in Men's Track award during his high school career. Academically, DiCicco was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Beta Club. He will be a Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education major at Brevard College.

 

 

Dalton Hawley- Freshman- Palm Coast, Fla.- Matanzas High School

The Palm Coast, Florida native is a graduate of Matanzas High School.

 

Justin King- Freshman- Lawrenceville, Ga.- Archer High School

The Lawrenceville, Georgia native is a graduate of Archer High School.

 

 

 

Mason Lariscy- Freshman- Statesboro, Ga.- Southeast Bulloch High School

The Statesboro, Georgia native was an Honor Student at Southeast Bulloch High School and was involved with the Choir. He will be a Theatre major at Brevard College.

 

 

 

Jake Moore- Freshman- Canton, N.C.- Pisgah High School

The Canton, North Carolina native earned All-Mountain 6 Conference honors in Cross Country his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Off the course, Moore was a Career and Technical Honor Student at Pisgah High School. He will be an English major at Brevard College.

 

 

Anthony Padillo- Freshman- Rock Hill, S.C.- Northwestern High School

The Rock Hill, South Carolina native will be earning his Bachelor's of Music and Music Education degree at Brevard College.

Garrett Spangler- Freshman- Irmo, S.C.- Dutch Fork High School

The Irmo, South Carolina native is a graduate of Dutch Fork High School.

George Wells- Freshman- Columbia, S.C.- Spring Valley High School

The Columbia, South Carolina native earned numerous high school honors including an All-Region selection for Cross Country and Track & Field in both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He served as the Cross Country team captain in 2019 and earned Cross Country Rookie of the Year honors in 2016. Academically, Wells made the A-B Honor Roll in his junior and senior years. Wells will be double majoring in Environmental studies and Criminal Justice at Brevard College.
