BC Falls in Three Close Sets at Greensboro

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College volleyball team (2-11, 0-4 USA South) fell in three close sets to host Greensboro College (8-8, 3-1 USAS) in a weekday USA South Conference matchup Wednesday night in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Greensboro won the first two sets by identical 25-21 scores, before taking the match with a 25-20 third set victory.

Junior Kaitlyn Pressley led Brevard offensively with 10 kills and eight assists.  Makenna Parkins registered eight kills, while libero Bailey Lance led BC defensively with 10 digs.  Setter Logan Priddy dished out 13 assists.

The Tornados were successful on five service aces as a team with Priddy hitting on two serves. Lance, Ashley Hoxit and Kendall Rockstad also served aces for the Nados.

Greensboro setter Jaylyn Templeton led all players with 28 assists.  As a team, the Pride benefited from seven aces with three coming from Lauren Kunke.

BC jumped out on the home team in the first set taking a 7-5 lead on an ace by Rockstad. BC went on to win three straight points on a kill by Blair Nance set up by Pressley, followed by a GC error during Priddy's service.  Priddy then set up Pressley for a kill and a 10-8 BC lead.  After several tied scores and lead changes, Greensboro would pull away late to take a 23-18 lead and ultimately the 25-21 set win.

Set number two saw the Pride open up a 22-15 lead before BC rallied with a 6-0 run capped off by an ace from Hoxit and a kill by Parkins.  Greensboro however answered by winning the set's final three points to take the win.

Up 2-0, the Pride were able to once again pull away late in set three. The two teams were tied at 15-15, however GC won 10 of the set's final 15 points to take the match victory.

Brevard returns to conference action with a USAS quad-match currently scheduled for Saturday at Southern Virginia in Buena Vista, Virginia. BC then returns home for a match vs. Salem on Tuesday, October 4 at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
