BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Volleyball team recorded its second straight-set USA South Conference victory in the last four matches with a resounding 3-0 win over Agnes Scott (4-22, 2-10 USA South).  The Tornados won the first set 25-14 followed by an exciting 29-27 win in set number two.  Brevard (2-20, 2-11 USA South) then put the match away with a 25-21 victory in the third set.

The victory for Head Coach Anna Grant's squad came on Dig Pink Night for Breast Cancer Awareness as the Tornados wore Pink uniforms to honor the cause.

Hannah Jenkins led the charge offensively for the Tornados with 16 kills.  Hannah Gordon registered a game-high 24 assists, while libero Mariana Rodriguez was the top defensive player with 29 digs.  Sydney Fox added six kills and eight figs.  Jordan Lloyd registered seven digs and three kills, while Madison Hogan was a factor defensively with six digs.

The Tornados were strong defensively at the net as well, registering a total of five blocks led by Raley Shirey who totaled three blocks (two solo, one assist).  Emily Massing, Fox and Jenkins also recorded solo blocks.

The service ace continued to be an important weapon for the Tornados who as a team aced the Scots' defense 10 times.  Rodriguez served four aces, while Massing (three) and Lloyd (two) also put up double-digit ace totals.  Gordon added an ace as well.

The first set was closely contended early on with the Tornados holding a 17-14 lead.  After a kill by Lloyd gave the Tornados the serve back, Rodriguez reeled off seven straight points, including two aces to cap off the 8-0 scoring run for a 25-14 set win.

In the second set, Brevard had to come from behind to earn the hard-fought set.  Trailing 24-20, Brevard fended off four straight Agnes Scott set points to battle back to a 24-24 tie.  The two teams battled back and forth with three consecutive tie scores leading up to a 27-27 deadlock.  Gordon then found Fix for a kill to put BC up 28-27.  A block by Shirey then gave the Tornados an exciting set victory 29-27.

The Tornados finished off the Scots in set number three as Jenkins registered a kill off another Gordon assist to set up match point.  The block game shined again on match point as Jenkins provided the match winner on a block to finish off the set 25-21 and give the Tornados the 3-0 sweep.

Brevard closes out its season with a tri-match on Saturday at Point Lookout, Georgia with matches against host Covenant and Pensacola Christian.  The Tornados then return home for the season-finale at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30 vs. Montreat at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
