Trio of Seniors Honored as Brevard Sweeps Greensboro

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (12-3, 5-1 USA South) won its fifth-consecutive match in a row with a 9-0 sweep over Greensboro College (0-9, 0-7 USAS) on Wednesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex. 

Prior to the start of the match, Brevard's senior class of Brooke Garland, Alli Kogoy, and Hamrick Perry was honored in a special Senior Day ceremony.

Brevard began the match by sweeping doubles play as BC cruised in number-two doubles and won number-three doubles by default. Number-one senior duo of Garland and Kogoy battled to an 8-7 win at the top spot over GC's Jada Ore and Madison Bowen, with the Tornados taking the match in the deciding tiebreaker 7-4. 

Number-one singles player Hannah Hersh battled in her match and prevailed over Bowen, 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 10-6. Kogoy defeated Ore 6-3, 6-3, while Garland and Perry swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in number three and four singles. BC took the final two singles matches by default. 

The Tornados return to action with their home finale of the 2023 regular season on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Methodist University.
