BC Continues Winning Ways in Windy USA South Matchup

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (9-3, 2-1 USAS) earned an 8-1 victory over Meredith (0-6, 0-3 USAS) in a USA South Conference matchup played Saturday in extremely windy conditions at the McCoy Tennis Complex.

With the win, the Tornados have now been victorious in seven of their last eight matches dating back to March 4.

Brevard ran out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play.  Senior Brooke Garland and sophomore Sophie Trantham led the charge with an 8-0 victory in number two doubles.  BC's number one doubles team of sophomore Hannah Hersh and senior Alli Kogoy followed with an 8-5 win.  Senior Hamrick Perry and freshman Savannah Anderson then completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win in doubles play.

Anderson took that momentum into singles, cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 win in no. 6 singles.  Trantham made quick work of her opponent as well with a 6-1, 6-3 win in number four singles.  Perry also earned a solid  6-3, 6-3 victory in no. 5 singles.

Kogoy won no. 2 singles in straight sets, while Hersh won number one singles in a tiebreaker.  Sophie Phillips earned Meredith's lone win of the match, winning a battle over Garland in number three singles that also went to a tiebreaker.

Next up for Brevard is a road conference march at Pfeiffer on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
