Tornados Fall 8-1 to Lions on the Road

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (8-10, 2-2 USA South) dropped an 8-1 team decision to Piedmont University (19-3, 5-0 USAS), the number-14 team in the Region, on Thursday afternoon in Demorest, Georgia.

Brevard's number-one doubles duo of Sophie Trantham and Hamrick Perry won a thrilling doubles decision over Abbey Grace Venham and Rachel Marsh, 8-7, claiming the tiebreaker 7-4. However, the Lions went on to win the next two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead as a team.

Piedmont went on to win all six singles matches to cruise to the 8-1 conference win, putting a halt to Brevard's stretch of winning that saw the Tornados win six out of their last seven matches.

Brevard hits the road on Saturday for a pivotal road contest at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia scheduled for 1 p.m.
