Riggan, Rojas and Worsencroft Earn Awards of Distinction from United Soccer Coaches

BREVARD, N.C. – Three Brevard College Women's Soccer student-athletes – Sallie Riggan, Rebeccah Rojas and Abbie Worsencroft – have been honored with 2020-21 Player Awards of Distinction by the United Soccer Coaches. 

The Player Awards of Distinction honor student-athletes who have achieved quality performance on the field, represented the highest ideals of team leadership, exhibited quality character attributes, and made other significant contributi1`ons to the benefit of the program and the community.

Riggan, a returning senior midfielder from Wilmington, North Carolina majoring in Art, started all nine games in the Spring 2021 season.  Patrolling the midfield for the Tornados, she registered a three-point performance with one goal and one assist in a road win at Wesleyan on Feb. 27.

Rojas, a goalkeeper from Murrieta, California, graduated Summa Cum Laude in May with a B.A. in Business and Organizational Leadership from Brevard College.  A First-Team USA South Conference All-West Division selection, Rojas also was a two-time USA South Defensive Player of the Week in the Spring of 2021.  She was amongst the nation's leaders in NCAA Division III with 37 saves and six shutouts for the season.  

Worsencroft, a freshman defender from West Union, South Carolina, was named a Second-Team USA South Conference All-West Division selection this season.  She helped anchor a defense that produced six shutouts and held its opponents to one goal or less on seven occasions. 

Riggan, Rojas and Worsencroft helped lead the Tornados to a USA South Conference postseason appearance, a 6-2-1 overall record and a 6-1 mark in league play in the Spring of 2021.
