OFFICIAL USA SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE LINK

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's soccer team was selected to finish fifth in the USA South Conference West Division in the conference's annual Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Tornados garnered 38 total points in the poll voted on by opposing divisional coaches in the USA South. Defending USA South Conference Champion Maryville College garnered near-unanimous support with eight first-place votes and 64 points to claim the top spot, while Piedmont College earned one first-place selection alongside 54 points in the poll to finish second. Covenant College claimed the third spot with 48 points, while Huntingdon College edged out Brevard with 41 points for the fourth position. Wesleyan College (22 points), Agnes Scott College (19 points), LaGrange College (18 points), and Berea College (17 points) rounded out the preseason voting.

Due to complications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 women's soccer seasons were postponed until the spring semester. Despite the delay to the start of the season, the USA South is prepared to offer regular season and championship experiences for its student-athletes despite the NCAA's cancelation of the national Division III tournament. An adjustment to this season's competition is that USA South women's soccer teams will be competing in Conference-sponsored regular season and tournament action against teams within their division only.

The Spring 2021 USA South Women's Soccer postseason will consist of an East Division and West Division Tournament. The top-four seeded teams from each division will advance to the respective tournaments. The winners of those events will be crowned Divisional Conference Champions. There will be no overall USA South Champion this season.

The Tornados, led by Head Coach Juan Mascaro, are eligible for conference postseason play for the first time as members of NCAA Division III. Brevard finished the 2019 season of competition with a 4-4 mark in USA South Conference play. Brevard's four wins in conference action became the second-most in BC's NCAA-era history. Entering play in the Spring of 2021, the Tornados feature a squad with 15 returners alongside 10 newcomers.

Brevard will kick off its regular season on Saturday, February 13 when the Tornados take on Covenant College at the newly-expanded Ives-Lemel Family Field, with first touch scheduled for 12 p.m.
