Brevard looks to extend winning streak against Shaw

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard women's soccer aims to win their 11th match of the season when they host Shaw on Saturday at noon.

The Tornados have made program history with the most wins in a season (10) since the school moved to the NCAA ranks in 2008 by playing tough defense which has allowed an average of 1.12 goals per match, and an offense that has recorded the most goals in a season (30) since 2009 (25).

Brevard has had 14 different players on the offensive end of the field record at least one point this season, and has been led on offense by junior Megan Shina, with 23 total points on the season (11 goals, one assist). Defensively, Brevard has limited opponents to an average of 9.81 shots per match and have recorded six shut outs on the season. Goalkeepers Rebeccah Rojas, Hannah Weatherall, and Elise Youmans have all started at least one match this season that has resulted in a shutout, with senior goalkeeper Courtney Perkins contributing to the shutout against Wesleyan on October 22nd.

Shaw heads into the match 3-9, with their most recent match coming in a 3-0 loss at the hands of Chowan. On offense, the Bears are led by Leslie Mendoza with eight total points on the season (four goals).

This will be the first meeting between the two schools, as this is Shaw's inaugural season.
