Brevard set for rematch with first place Piedmont

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard women's soccer returns home October 18th to take on unbeaten Piedmont at 7 p.m.

In their previous match against the Lions, the Tornados allowed three second-half goals en-route to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Piedmont on October 3rd. At the time, it was the first time in 2017 Brevard did not record a goal.

The Tornados head into the match 8-5 following a setback at Huntingdon, where the Hawks scored the golden goal in overtime to take home the 1-0 victory on October 14th.

Brevard will look to get back on track with a balanced offense and a stout defense, the two main reasons why the team is off to their best start since Brevard moved to the NCAA ranks in 2008. On offense, 12 different Tornados have recorded at least one point this season, led by Megan Shina with 18 (nine goals). Defensively, Brevard has recorded a shut out in five matches this season and has only allowed four goals in their eight wins in 2017.

Piedmont enters the match 13-0-3, following an 8-0 take down of Berea on October 15th. The Lions are led on offense by Cassidy Reich, who is second in the USA South Conference with 34 total points scored this season (13 goals, eight assists).

With a win on Wednesday Brevard is ensured to finish the season with at least a .500 winning percentage, which would be the first time the team has accomplished this feat in their 10 years of being an NCAA program.
