BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard women's soccer team travels to Virginia to take on Averett and Ferrum in back-to-back away matches September 9-10.

Being new to the Division III level, Brevard head coach Juan Mascaro says the biggest challenge in facing these two teams is the fact they have not seen them in person before.

"As we go into the season, we are going to play teams we don't know a whole lot about. With the new conference, you go in a little bit on the blind side, so the biggest challenge is that we haven't played them before," says Mascaro.

Both Averett and Ferrum will attempt to stop Brevard's offense, which finished the match against St. Andrews with 19 total shots, including 11 shots on goal.

On the defensive side of the ball freshman goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas had a solid performance in her first match by not allowing a goal by the Knights, and her head coach says it is important that she now has game experience.

"It's good for her confidence," says Mascaro. "The teachable moment is now you know what college soccer is about, you've seen it and your nervousness goes away. Now you keep playing the way you are playing."

Despite playing back-to-back games for the first time, Mascaro says his team is looking forward to the matches this weekend.

"We've never played back-to-back games before, that is something that is new for us. But the team is focused and they are eager to get a couple of wins," added Mascaro.

The Tornados will take on Averett on September 9th at 2 p.m. and will travel to Ferrum the following day to play the Panthers at 1 p.m.
