BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (12-4) took down Warren Wilson College (0-13), 75-62, in non-conference action on Monday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

Five Tornados reached double-figure scoring totals in the contest as Brevard completed the season sweep over the visiting Owls. 

Junior forward Makenna Parkins scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting with four rebounds and two steals. Makayla Street, a freshman guard from Rock Hill, South Carolina, stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals while hitting a team-high six free throws. Naliyah Boyce scored 11 points and grabbed seven boards, while Aysha Short posted 10 points. Christina Rhone set a new career-high with 10 points by way of two made field goals and five free throws, in addition to four rebounds and three assists. Freshman forward Olivia Miller added nine points with three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 

Warren Wilson's Moosie Lewis scored a game-high 17 points. Carmen Echols added 10 points with Catherine Causby securing a game-best 12 rebounds. 

Each side was in the lower 30%-range on field goal attempts, with Warren Wilson holding a 6-5 edge on 3-point buckets. BC made 10 more free throws (22-12) than the visitors and hit at an 82% clip from the charity stripe. The rebounding battle was dead even, 49-49, but Brevard's defense came through forcing 23 turnovers that translated to 19 points. BC scored 34 points in the paint and its bench contributed 37 of its 75 points. 

The Tornados got off to a slow start, with the visiting Owls opening up a 12-5 lead with 4:52 left in the first quarter following an Autumn Fritz layup. BC fought right back, tying the score at 16-16 at the end of the first period. 

A hotly-contested second quarter ensued between the two sides, as the Owls maintained a one-point edge 25-24 with 4:35 left in the second stanza. However, Brevard surged ahead with a 13-0 scoring run capped by a Short 3-point bucket as the hosts opened up a game-changing 12-point cushion, 37-25, at the half.

Brevard kept the Owls at bay in the third period, holding a 10-point edge midway through the quarter. BC was able to outscore the Owls 15-5 over the final five minutes of the third quarter to take a 20-point lead, 63-43. 

Brevard's double-digit lead would not be threatened in the fourth period, and although the Owls outscored BC 19-12 down the stretch, the advantage proved insurmountable as the Tornados wrapped up a 13-point non-conference triumph, 75-62. 

The Tornados jump back into USA South Conference action on Wednesday as they welcome Pfeiffer University to The Bosh at 6 p.m.
