BREVARD, N.C. – Making its first postseason appearance in the program's NCAA-era history, the Brevard College women's basketball team (6-5, 6-5 USAS) is set to meet number-one seed Piedmont College (14-3, 12-0 USAS) on Wednesday evening, with tip-off set for 6 p.m. at Cave Arena in Demorest, Georgia.

In an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators will not be permitted to attend USA South Conference men's and women's basketball contests this season. Members of participating teams, game officials, and other essential personnel relevant to event operations will be the only individuals permitted into the venue for 2020-21 USA South basketball games. The policy is in accordance with the USA South Conference's policy announced on January 7, 2021.

Brevard clinched a spot in the four-team West Division Tournament following a remarkable five-game win streak to end the 2020-21 regular season, sweeping Huntingdon College at the Boshamer Gymnasium over the weekend to officially punch its ticket to the postseason.

The Tornados have been led by senior forward Destiny Williams, who has paced Brevard over the course of her senior campaign by averaging 16.4 points-per-game. Williams has averaged a team-best 18.2 points over the course of Brevard's five-game winning streak.

BC's five-game streak to end the regular season ties the longest consecutive winning streak of Brevard women's basketball's stretch of play in the NCAA-era set during the 2017-18 campaign – both under the direction of Head Coach Donald Hudson and Assistant Coach Taylor Spangler.

In BC's final game at the Boshamer Gymnasium – a 64-56 triumph over Huntingdon - Williams set a new career high with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting while also pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds, including four offensive boards, en route to her ninth double-double in a Tornado uniform.  The Aiken, South Carolina native also dished out three assists along with one steal and one blocked shot.

Deja Riddick, a senior from Norfolk, Virginia, scored a season-high 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.  Remarkably, 15 of Riddick's 17 points came in the second half, with nine points scored in the fourth quarter.  Riddick also registered a team-high four assists and pulled down six rebounds.

Freshman Makenna Parkins came off the bench to add six points and seven rebounds, while senior Shakirah Thompson registered six points on two made 3-pointers.

The postseason-clinching victory for the Tornados came just a day after the Tornado women's basketball claimed its fourth victory in four consecutive seasons on its Senior Day, as Brevard defeated Huntingdon 59-50 and sent its six-member senior class – Victoria Green, Meiya Mills, Bailey Ray, Riddick, Shakirah Thompson, and Williams – out in style.

Piedmont was led to a perfect 12-0 conference mark by its three-headed scoring trio of Nakiyah Washington, Livia Skinner, and Hope Franklin, who have averaged 17.8, 15.6, and 14.9 points-per-game respectively.

The Lions concluded its regular season with a critical two-game sweep over nationally-ranked #10 Maryville College to secure the number-one overall seed in the West Division.
