DEMOREST, Ga. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (5-10, 3-6 USAS) heads on the road this evening for a USA South Conference matchup with the defending conference champion Piedmont College Lions (10-8, 6-3 USAS) at 6 p.m. in Demorest, Georgia.

Brevard comes into Wednesday's contest following consecutive close home defeats last week to quality USA South West Division opponents. BC fell narrowly, 68-66, to Maryville College on January 14 before falling to Berea College (9-0 in conference play), 64-53 last Saturday at the Boshamer Gymnasium. 

Shakirah Thompson led three double-digit scorers against Maryville by draining four 3-pointers en route to a 14-point performance. Deja Riddick posted a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double while Thompson added 13 points last Saturday against Berea. 

Thompson has drained a total of 40 long-range buckets in the 2019-20 season, which ranks third in the conference. Riddick's work on the glass has vaulted her to fifth on the USA South rebounding leaderboards, as the Norfolk, Virginia native has grabbed 8.8 rebounds-per-game. 

The Lions have hung their hat on their defense so far this season, averaging a conference-best 12.2 steals-per-game. Piedmont's Amari Price, a preseason All-American selection by D3Hoops.com, has averaged a conference-leading 5.7 assists-per-game. 

Brevard will return home on Saturday, January 25 for a 2 p.m. tip-off against Huntingdon College at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
