BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (5-8, 3-4 USAS) returns to action on Tuesday evening when the Tornados face Maryville College (11-4, 4-2 USAS) at 6 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

Tuesday's contest marks Brevard women's basketball's Sickle Cell Awareness promotion. Live video stream and statistics will be available by clicking here

The Tornados are coming off of their first back-to-back victories of the 2019-20 season, as Brevard has consecutively defeated Agnes Scott College and Wesleyan College. In Brevard's last game action, the Tornados set a new school record with 73 team rebounds, while junior forward Destiny Williams grabbed a school-record 21 boards in a 65-56 overtime victory at Wesleyan.

The Tornados and Scots have faced each other one time this season already, as the two sides played on December 4, 2019, in Maryville, Tennessee. There, Maryville used a big third quarter, outscoring Brevard 19-6 en route to a 65-50 victory. The Scots were paced by four double-digit scorers in the contest, while Brevard's Deja Riddick led the way with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Brevard's Shakirah Thompson's hot 3-point shooting of late has propelled her to fourth in the USA South in 3-pointers made per game (2.5) and total 3-pointers made (33). With over half of the 2019-20 season now complete, BC's Riddick (11.8 ppg) and Williams (11.1 ppg) have led the scoring charge up until this point.

The Scots feature two high-volume scoring threats of their own. Klaire Varney has averaged 16.3 points-per-game while Courtney Carruthers has added 14.6 points-per-contest.

The Tornados continue a stretch of four-out-of-five home competitions on Saturday, January 18 when Brevard takes on USA South West Division leaders Berea College (14-2, 7-0 USAS) for a 2 p.m. tip-off. The contest marks Brevard's "We Back Pat" game, as the Tornados will show their support for Alzheimer's research and the Pat Summit Foundation.
