BREVARD, N.C. – Junior Shakirah Thompson scored a career-high 21 points on a career-best seven made three-pointers to lead the Brevard College women's basketball team (4-8, 2-4 USAS) to a 66-44 victory over USA South Conference opponent Agnes Scott (0-13, 0-4 USAS) on Wednesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

Thompson's seven three-pointers were the second most made three's in a single-game in school history.  The Atlanta native was just one three-pointer shy of the school record eight three-pointers made held by Annalee Bollinger (Nov. 29, 2017).

Thompson shot 7-of-13 from beyond the arc en route to her career-high performance.  The previous career-high for the junior guard was 19 points in a win over Bob Jones on November 19 earlier this season.

In addition to Thompson, juniors Destiny Williams (18 points) and Deja Riddick (10 points) also scored in double figures.  Riddick also led the Tornados in rebounds (nine) and assists (six), while Williams pulled down seven rebounds to go along with a game-high three steals.

Agnes Scott was led by Emma Olsen with 12 points and on the glass by Kamiyla Lane and Garis Grant who pulled down 14 and 13 rebounds respectively.

Both teams started slowly on the offensive end, with Brevard taking a 12-9 advantage through the end of the first quarter.  The Tornados, however, caught fire in the second quarter, shooting 56% from the field and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc in the frame.  BC outscored the Scotties 25-10 in the second quarter to take a 37-19 lead into intermission.

Agnes Scott responded out of halftime with a strong quarter of its own in the third period.  Outscoring the Tornados 20-10 in the period, the Scotties cut the lead to single digits on multiple occasions and trailed 47-39 at the end of three quarters.

Brevard, however, put the game away with a dominant fourth quarter.  In the final period, the Tornados shot 7-of-17 from the field while holding ASC to 2-of-12 shooting and an 0-for-4 mark from three-point range.  In total, the Tornados outscored the Scotties 19-5 in the final stanza to secure the 22-point victory.

Brevard returns to USA South Conference action on Friday evening with a trip to Macon, Georgia to face Wesleyan College.  The Tornados will be looking for the series sweep against Wesleyan who BC defeated 78-58 in the teams' first meeting on December 7.  Following the trip to Wesleyan, the Tornados will return home to the Boshamer Gymnasium for a conference match up vs. Maryville College on Tuesday, January 14 at 6 p.m.
