SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (3-7) hung with NCAA DI Wofford College (7-8) through the first quarter of play before eventually falling by a final score of 82-34 in an exhibition contest on Thursday afternoon at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.

The contest did not count towards Brevard's overall record, while the Terriers counted the contest and improved to a 7-8 record.

Junior guard Shakirah Thompson led all BC scorers with 11 points that included three made 3-pointers. Junior forward Destiny Williams added 10 points, five rebounds, and a team-high two blocked shots. Senior center Krysta Davis scored six points and hauled down five rebounds.

Wofford's well-balanced attack was led by Niyah Lutz, who came off the bench to record a game-high 12 points alongside eight rebounds. Jamari McDavid totaled 10 points, while four different Terriers posted nine-point performances.

Wofford took advantage of 22 Brevard turnovers that resulted in a crucial 36 points-off-turnovers that propelled the Terriers toward victory.

The hosts led wire-to-wire in the contest, taking the lead for good following a Lilly Hatton layup. A Williams jumper cut Wofford's lead to one point, 4-3 before the Terriers jumped out to a quick 6-0 scoring run. However, Brevard was able to hold the game within striking distance through the first period of action, as the visiting Tornados trailed by single-digits, 18-12, following the first quarter of play.

Wofford quickly changed the tide of the affair, producing a 12-0 scoring run to kick off the second quarter. The Terriers used their pivotal scoring stretch to eventually extend their lead to a 25-point margin at the halftime intermission, as Wofford led Brevard 47-22 at the break.

The Terriers would go on to outscore BC by 13 points, 19-6, in the third period followed by a 16-6 advantage in the fourth quarter to wrap up their victory.

Brevard returns to USA South Conference action this Saturday, January 4 as BC faces Huntingdon College on the road in Montgomery, Alabama. The two sides are scheduled to begin play at 3 p.m.
