BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Tornados Women's Basketball team (6-4, 2-3 USAS) will head down to Spartanburg, S.C. to face two NCAA DI opponents in consecutive days as the Tornados visit the USC Upstate Spartans (3-7) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before facing the Wofford Terriers (6-5) on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium that opened last season.

The Tornados are coming off of a 69-55 setback against the defending USA South champion Piedmont Lions last Saturday at Boshamer Gymnasium. Piedmont pulled away in the contest with an outstanding second half outscoring the Tornados 35-16 after the intermission. A 13-0 scoring run in the third quarter built a double-digit lead for the Lions in the third quarter.

The Spartans of USC Upstate come into play on Tuesday after a 63-53 defeat at the hands of East Carolina University. The Spartans are currently averaging 68.0 points-per-game, shooting 39.4% from the field thus far in 2018-19.

The Terriers of Wofford College will face Appalachian State tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Boone, N.C. before hosting the Tornados on Wednesday. Wofford enjoyed a three-game winning streak before a December 15 defeat at North Carolina Central University. Wednesday's matchup with Wofford marks the second-straight season that the Tornados Women's Basketball team has played an exhibition against a Southern Conference institution, as they matched up with Western Carolina University last season on New Year's Eve.

Despite losses in three of its last four regular season contests, Brevard still boasts one of the USA South's most potent long range offensive attacks. The Tornados are currently second in 3-pointers made (87) and fifth in 3P% (31%).

Anchored by freshman Avery Lockwood (8.5 rbg) and sophomore's Deja Riddick (6.6 rbg) and Destiny Williams (6.4 rpg), the Tornados boast the league's fourth-best rebounding numbers (42.9 rpg), which includes ranking fourth in offensive boards (15.5 orpg).

Senior guard Annalee Bollinger remains a top-10 scorer in the USA South, as her 14.4 points-per-game currently rank ninth.

After Brevard's exhibition contests on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Tornados enjoy 12 days off of game action over the holidays before a New Year's Eve road trip to Laurinburg, N.C. to face the NAIA's St. Andrews University Knights in non-conference action. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. on December 31. The matchup marks the second-straight season that the Tornados and Knights have clashed, as Brevard claimed a 74-62 victory last season at Boshamer Gymnasium.
