Brevard Takes Down Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga- Another strong defensive showing by Brevard resulted in the team's fifth straight victory, 59-46 over Agnes Scott on Saturday afternoon.

Brevard (9-5) held Agnes Scott without a made 3-pointer and forced 30 turnovers, to complete the season sweep of the Scotties. The game also marked the sixth time this season the Tornados have held their opponent under 50 points.

Junior guard Annalee Bollinger led the way on offense for the Tornados, shooting 5-of-13 from the floor with four made 3-pointers, while going perfect from the foul line (6-of-6) to finish with 20 points. Freshman forward Destiny Williams finished second on the team in scoring with 15 points on the afternoon, knocking down 7-of-14 shots from the floor. Williams also showed off her defensive prowess by tying her season-high in steals with five takeaways.

After a made jump shot by Kamiyla Lane gave Agnes Scott a 40-39 lead with 5:57 to go in the game, Brevard put together a  20-6 run, highlighted by eight points from Williams. The Tornado defense did not allow a field goal during that run, as all six of the Scotties points came from the foul line.

Both teams played exceptional defense in the third quarter, where Agnes Scott outscored Brevard 11-6 in the frame. During the quarter Brevard shot just 2-of-15 from the floor, while Agnes Scott controlled the boards (10-7), and finished 5-of-11 shots from the field.

In the first half, 18 of Brevards 28 points came by way of the 3-pointer, as four different Tornados (Bollinger, Kelsie Rhyne, Taryn Ledford, and Shakirah Thompson) eached knocked down a shot from downtown.

Brevard returns to action on January 23rd, as the team travels to Demorest, Ga. to take on Piedmont. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
