BREVARD, N.C. - Redshirt freshman pitcher Jordan Kielson claimed the final USA South Weekly Pitching Awards of the 2020 season following an impressive showing last week at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Kielson, a Canton, North Carolina native, swept the pitching awards by earning both the USA South Softball Pitcher of the Week and Rookie Pitcher of the Week awards in the final week of these honors for the 2020 season.
The Tornado newcomer earned a 3-0 record last week with a 0.78 ERA for in three appearances, all starts, for the Tornados. In 18.0 total innings pitched, Kielson allowed two earned runs on eight hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts. She earned wins over Iowa Wesleyan, Penn St.-Harrisburg and Penn College.
The announcement marks the first weekly awards for BC softball awarded by the USA South since the Tornados became eligible for weekly conference awards in 2018. Kielson's honors mark the 17th and 18th times that a Tornado student-athlete has won a weekly award from the USA South in the 2019-20 academic year.
Brevard College softball concludes the 2020 campaign on a seven-game winning streak and finished the season with a 9-5 overall record.
