Freshman pitcher Jordan Kielson threw a complete game to earn her second career victory, as BC used a big offensive surge in the sixth inning to clinch the win.

Kielson (2-0) pitched the entirety of the second game, allowing just three hits and an unearned run while striking out three batters. The Canton, North Carolina native also assisted on a whopping nine defensive putouts.

Makenzie Rice had a breakout game for the Tornados in game two, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI's and a double. Mari Cook and Emily White also recorded multi-hit performances, while Mikayla Morgan racked up a two-RBI triple. Brevard's offense tallied six runs in the sixth inning to pull away from the Valkyries.

Thursday's doubleheader, originally scheduled to be played in Spartanburg, South Carolina, was considered a home matchup for Converse played on the Brevard College campus.

Averett comes into play on Saturday following an upset victory over nationally-ranked No. 7 Virginia Wesleyan in its season-opening doubleheader.

Last season, the Cougars took a pair of contests by run rule in Danville, Virginia from the Tornados in non-conference action.

BC's doubleheader at home against Averett is its last before taking part in the FastPitch Dreams Spring Classic, held in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over Spring Break. The Tornados open play in the tournament against Gettysburg College on Sunday, March 8 at 9:30 a.m. All told, the Tornados will play a total of eight contests in five days.
