BC Men’s Tennis Cruises to Season-Opening Win

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (1-0, 1-0 USAS) opened its season with a resounding 8-1 USA South Conference win over Berea (0-1, 0-1 USAS) on Saturday at the McCoy Tennis Complex.

The Tornados won all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches to cruise to the team victory.

Ethan McGee and Andrew Ingram won 8-3 in number one doubles, while both blanking their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in number one and two singles. 

JaMarcus Walker and Miles Schafer were sharp in number two doubles with an 8-2 win, while Hunter Williams and Alex Glaze produced an 8-1 win in number three doubles to complete the 3-0 sweep.

Schafer (no. 3 singles), Williams (no. 4) and Glaze (no. 6) all won their singles matches in straight sets.  Walker battled Berea's Mike Meachem to a thrilling third set tiebreaker, ultimately won by the Mountaineer 4-6, 6-3, 11-9.

Next up for the Tornados is a conference road trip at Huntingdon on Saturday and Sunday, March 13-14 in Montgomery, Alabama.
